If a pitcher has a significant drop in velocity, the first thing a team should do is get an MRI.  You don't have to wait for pain or discomfort.

For anyone wishing the Nats had kept Detwilers: three starts, 12 innings, 10.something ERA, 2.9 something WHIP.

I think the Nats need a bigger dumpster for this size fire. Good grief.

Cole throws the ball 90 belt high down the middle. Anyone could see he was going to get hammered. Except Rizzo and Williams I guess.

Somehow that doesn't exactly cheer me up.

Hate to go all PC here... but I've been concerned about Cole since January.

http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/finding-next-garrett-richards-carlos-frias-dodgers-010715

Cistulli idenitfied Garrett Richards as a potential high end starter even though he was never a top 50 prospect and even struggled a bit his first few callups, because he throws hard and does not walk many guys.  He sorted by fastball velocity pitchers who had reached AA/AAA, had at least 50 IP, and a BB% of less than 7%.  As the link says, his #1 choice this year is Carlos Frias for a Richards-like break out.  #2 is AJ Cole, even though his velocity seemed to be down last year.

Has Cole ever had TJ before?

Nope

Velocity loss would be a big concern then.

FP annoys me sometimes.  Thinks the Nats can actually come back.

Maybe we'll score 4 runs again tonight.  Would that be a small victory?

The Barves came from 9 down once to beat us. Not that we would ever return the favor...

Just came back to the TV. Man, this is ugly.

I can't ever being so down about this team before. They need to find a way. At this point, they need just one good game. Gotta stop the bleeding.

clapping it up in the dugout after plating a run to make it 9-2.

That's freaking embarrassing. This team should be better than that.
