Don't worry, the Barves pen freaked it up for the Mets

Their pen is awful.

Because they're rebuilding. They were smart and dumped their good relievers for prospects. There is no point for a team planning on being bad to keep good relievers around.

Who was the fool on here that claimed the Padres were a good hitting team recently? :hysterical: They are a complete joke from top to bottom. Terrible lineup. AJ Preller screwed the pooch.

I didn't say they are a good hitting team, but they are a good run scoring team so far this season - 5th in runs scored per game at 4.31, immediately behind Washington at 4.32, a consistent scoring machine if there ever was one.

the Mets just DFA'd Dillon Gee.  Unbelievable.  There have been a lot of reports that the Mets have been looking to move a starter.

Blue Jays give one away in the 11th to lose to Mets.  Nats are not going to be able to rely on the rest of the division losing for much longer.  The last 2 games the Mets have shown the ability to come from behind and win when it looks hopeless.  Sometimes those things snowball and lead to special seasons.  Time to wake up Nats.

Pillar with an awful base running blunder ran the Blue Jays out of a big inning and the Mets hang on to beat Toronto again.  Damn.

Pillar is the same jack hole that hit 2 HR off Scherzer.  F him.

Hamels Injured
« Reply #264 on: June 18, 2015, 01:16:31 pm »
Watching the O's game right now...Phillies have announced just moments ago that Cole Hamels will be bumped from his next start with "mild hamstring strain." You never root for a guy to get injured, ever, but that literally could not be better for the Nats. The Phillies lose a ton of value on Hamels now and whatever team does get him (think Dodgers and Cardinals, destined to face us in Oct. this year) will be getting less performance than they would have. I hope he makes a full recovery though and gets traded to a team where he can enjoy himself and compete, despite any dickish behavior like plunking Harper.

In fact, I hope the Dodger lowball the Phillies and Amaro gets fleeced and just accepts whatever offer he gets before he loses any more value, and then Hamels bounces back making the trade a disaster for the Phillies and further weakening them for years to come. The NL-best Dodgers won't be a threat to us anyway, they will lose all games started by Kershaw vs. the wildcard Cards (over cubs) in the NLDS.

yep, i hate the Phillies, so this is very positive news.  I dont think there has been anything more astiunding in all of pro sports than wathcing Amaro dole out bad contracts, take 2-3 too long to realize he needed to unload these vets while they still had som value, and now refuse to deal the ones that actually do have some value (pap, hamels).  It's the worst management of personnel ive ever seen!!!!

This dude should have been fired after 2013.

Yeah they won't be a threat to us because we won't play them.   Dodgers/Cubs first round?  That means we play the Cardinals.  We won't get past them.

Or couldn't it be that the Phillies are protecting their best asset from getting hurt and are preemptively keeping him sidelined while they work a trade with someone? That's what I'd do, no way I'd throw him out there every fifth day for that dismal team and chance him getting really hurt.

Except Cole Hamels.  If I never have to look at his douche face, listen to his douche comments, act like the freaking Barves as purveyor of baseball's unwritten rules ever again, I'd be freaking ecstatic.  freak him.  He's been paid well, will still be paid well despite any injury, and his family will be unaffected.

freak Cole Hamels.  I hope he's hurt beyond recovery.

This is 2013 all over again, except there is no real good team like the Braves in '13 to win the division. We could win it with 86 wins.

I honestly couldn't give two freaks about Cole Hamels.  I hope I never have to look at him again.

And how would he or his family be negatively impacted by an injury which costs him playing baseball?  He's well paid, he'd get to spend time at home with his family and be more involved in their lives.  He'd never have to work again.

And we benefit because we don't have to listen to his douchebag, McCann-like comments about how everyone should play the game the "right way" and throw at players who don't.

Good riddance.

No, it'll be Cubs/Cards wildcard, winner faces NL-leader, Dodgers. We face the NL Central Champ Pirates, with us having home field advantage.

Or couldn't it be that the Phillies are protecting their best asset from getting hurt and are preemptively keeping him sidelined while they work a trade with someone? That's what I'd do, no way I'd throw him out there every fifth day for that dismal team and chance him getting really hurt.

That would certainly work if they did have a deal in place, but if it falls apart and they come out saying "just kidding lol hamels is healthy please trade for him guys" they're going to look really fishy. He needs to be out there performing well every start to entice buyers, it's now been made clear that the guy has an injury. What are you going to get from him now? Wei-Yin Chen "general body soreness" 8IP shutout, or Strasburg "just a little tight neck" can't make it through the third without giving up 6ER?

If it's just a play it looks really messy all around, I'm pretty sure his injury is legitimate. They aren't sending him to the DL or anything (yet), but he is being bumped according to what Gary Thorne said to start the broadcast.

Also, Sean O'Sullivan hurled 5 innings of one-run ball against the vaunted, red-hot Orioles offense. So apparently we're not the only one who flail at scrub pitchers :glug: :hammer:
