Winter Classic lottery
« on: November 09, 2014, 07:40:41 pm »
Did anyone try to enter the lottery that that Nats had for 10-year season ticket holders for Winter Classic tickets?  I entered on Thursday night but didn't receive any kind of confirmation that my entry was received.  The lottery entry page was pretty funky, so I'm not sure if my entry went through or not.

I don't see any confirmation email but I recall getting a message at the time that I had been successful.

I entered and didn't get a confirmation email. Usually you get an email after the lottery is drawn whether you are picked or not I think.

I entered and was told I would get an email if I was picked for the lottery. But nothing so far so I'm assuming I'm SOL.

Well has ANYBODY heard anything back on this?

EDIT:  Checked with a friend who registered for the lottery and he has not heard anything either.

I'm guessing nobody has yet, though the email did say:

If you are selected, you will receive an additional email with lottery instructions, dates and passwords on November 7.

Congrats, you have a chance to pay hundreds of dollars to stand in the cold weather and squint from section 201 to watch the Caps lose to the Blackhawks!

Just kidding. Congrats, should be a fun event.

Hah, I probably won't even go.  A couple of people in my group really want them, I could be a good group leader.

Not sure where the seats would be.  We are in club now, which would be nice if it's really cold.

Probably not accurate for the Nats lottery tomorrow as this was Caps season ticket holder info, but for a rough idea of the price levels:

Dugout box cheap seats!

Thanks, eastie. Interesting indeed. The higher up, the more expensive, for the most part. And the seats in the Norfolk Southern Club are the most expensive!

Presales to Capitals SPH's ran $129 - $350, IIRC.

I think mine were $149 for section 111, which will not be too bad - behind one of the nets.

Best resale prices I have seen so far are roughly 3X face.

Access to heated indoor bars is probably worth the premium for club level!

You have to sell your soul to Ted Leonsis and get "MONUMENTAL SPORTS" tattooed on your chest.

There are plenty of club seats for sale - $1300 to $2400, which is BS.

Our seats as Caps STHs since 2008 are in the upper half of Section 114 (face value $189 each). Last time I looked on StubHub, the two seats immediately next to ours were listed for $982.50.

Each.

I bet no sales at that price, though.  It doesn't hurt to fish for a sucker for a few weeks.

I have to assume they won't sell for that.

The whole Winter Classic STH situation is bs. The Blackhawks got to pick the seats they wanted to be in while the Caps ticket holders got put somewhere based on the value of the ticket they have for their season. It's worst than the BS with the Philly fans years back when you think about it.

Leonsis does not care about the fans. He cares about the appearance of caring about the fans, and he knows that no media outlets will report on him screwing Caps fans as much as possible.
