Have there been any announcements about practices, alumni game or college games before the January 1 game?

If you folks want to save yourselves a tonne of cash and go to tonight's Blue Jackets game instead, shoot me a line  ;)

This evening's transitpocalypse is apparently a bit of a deterrent...

Got in, would have been happy to end up with tickets in 417, but forgot my MLB account log in info at the check out and was timed out.  By the time I got back in, only 406 M was leftin my price range, so I said to heck with it and passed.  disappointed.

I wonder how many ten year people are left. Seems like all of you had success with the lottery

I got in but my MLB info was not what they wanted. These are being sold by tickets.com so I established an account there.

I chose "Best Available" and got four tickets in 109, Row W, at $189 each. At $789 with processing fees.

Are those good seats? They seem OK. They're in the end zone.

Down to only 2 by the time I tried - initially only allowed me $79 seats for best available, but I fumbled on the Tickets.com logon and my second try got me 2 in 140, row M, for $150 ea before fees.

Tickets in the 200 and 300 sections will have the best views, 100 level will be watching on the big screen.

Stubhub prices for the Winter Classic have always dropped significantly on the day of the game, so that's my plan. (I didn't renew my plan for 2006 and 2007.)

When it gets close to Christmas if anyone has a pair of extras and wants to save the fees I'll be interested.

No. Rumor on the Caps forum is there apparently won't be any other games. Not a huge surprise there wouldn't be college games given that there aren't any high-profile local programs. The Caps used to do a periodic alumni game at Kettler, but so far there's been no info on any sort of event at Nationals Park. Seems like it'd be a nice way to make a little money while earning some PR points with fans who can't afford tickets to the main event or were shut out in the various ticket processes. Have an alumni game the day before, sell maybe 20,000 tickets for $10 each, and away you go.

I wouldn't be surprised if weather concerns might factor into not scheduling extra events, given the DC area's notoriously fickle weather at that time of year.

But I have no doubt this year's Winter Classic will come across looking less "inspired" than in other cities where they turned it into something of a festival.

In Pittsburgh it was rainy and they still had an alumni game.  Probably won't announce anything else until Dec.

It was sunny for the alumni game (I remember well, we were driving up to Pittsburgh that day) and it only got nasty on New Year's.

Decided to give a pair of WC tickets to son for Christmas. He's a huge hockey fan and will be thrilled since I told him I couldn't get tickets. ;)

10 year SPH just got an email for another pres-sale for the WC. One time password for presale that starts on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 10am. Less than 24 hours notice again. :bang: :bang:

I saw something in the Post that says there are about 1800.  I'm one--won the lottery and then got frustrated with the ticketing system and only bought one WC ticket for myself.

It seems like all the SPH I know says they're been SPH since 2005.

Got right in and picked up a pair in Section 137...$209 each before service fees. Total for both tickets with service fees was $445.60.

I guess that makes sense. Caps sale was ahead of the Nats sale. Thanks much.

It doesnt make much sense. The tickets don't have my face engraved in gold on them. All they have to do is put them in the right envelope.

I have an email notice from UPS to expect a delivery from the Nationals today - not sure if that's the Classic tix or not.  Anyone else get a similar notice?

They arrived!!  I bought two tix in the first lottery, then two more in the second-chance lottery a few days later.  Both sets arrived today, but in separate UPS envelopes.  Very nice looking.
