This press conference, oh my god. I've never hated a manager so much.

Dude if you expect to glean anything of value from a manager press conf, umm I don't know what to tell you.

I'm not, I just was hoping he'd break character from his hardass monotone persona.

I'm sure he did with the team.  Everyone on the team except Harper needs to wake the freak up.  Harp was outstanding in this game.  Pretty much everyone else was awful.

I almost am relieved that the Nats didn't rally in the bottom of the ninth. Why? Because I set my
DVR to record this game for 60 minutes past the alloted time. Should have been plenty of time for
a nine-inning game. Apparently not. We're bummed out that our team didn't win, but we're still wide
awake because the game started at three. Imagine these games---every postseason game in fact---going
this long and the games starting at 9 PM. It's no wonder kids don't watch baseball anymore---they can't stay
up to watch postseason games to the very end unless they live on the West Coast.

Who else did well?  Cab hit a HR but was pretty iffy in the infield.  Rendon had a nice hit in the 8th and a good stop at 3rd, but he was otherwise ineffective.  Lots of guys K'd with runners on.  Span missed a ball he should have caught, and did nothing at the plate.  Werth drew some walks, but that's it.  Desi?  freaking TERRIBLE.  Same with Ramos.  Stras was meh.  Stammen allowed a lead-off TRIPLE (although Span should have caught it).  Thornton was good, as was Clip.

Ok, Blevins was really freaking good.

it didn't matter

that runs scores regardless because panik gets a hit

the only thing you can question is putting stammen in

"that' run is the difference

LaRoche's mistake looms large now :(
GAME OVER.

0 for 4 at the plate, with 0 walks:
Denard Span
Ian Desmond

7 Left On Base, but SF had 10 LOB

You get the sure out at first.  You don't take foolish risks in the playoffs.

And Stammen was terrible.

Seriously, where the freak was Span? Had that one nice stride for a catch early, but didn't even threaten at the plate and made easy outs, and totally misses on that triple that he makes 98/100.

That run scores regardless because Panik got a hit

The "third" run with stammen in was the difference if you want to look at it that way

but really

not lighting up a HORRENDOUS post season jake peavy and a TERRIBLE giants bullpen is to blame for this loss

I'm really bummed out. We needed this game. Home crowd, ace on mound vs crappy ass Peavy. That's what lost. Those 5.2 scoreless frames vs Peavy where they couldn't muster a thing.

It's the pits. Play great for 6 months and it's all washed away in a few days.

I'm also so angry that the same teams prosper time and time again. The mother freaking Giants sucked for most of the season and yet when playoffs start they always win, no matter what. No rotation, no problem. Random scrubs throughout lineup, no problem they all produce.

So sick of this crap. Lucky freak teams just show up and win anyways.

Is this really how it's going to be?

Can't come up with the big hit when it matters?
Can't come up with the big pitch when it matters?

Years and years of playoff futility?

Really ?

\The Nats are so much better than any other team in the league - did we really just lose a game to horrible jake freaking peavy and the horrible giants?   a team we have freakING OWNED for years ?

i need hope

somebody give it to me

QFT. He was really bad. Line drives all over the park. Couldn't punch batters out when he had them down in the count. He was fortunate not to give up many more runs.

He set a bad tone from the beginning.
