Deploying Military Dad Seeks 2 Tickets to Nats Game with Son
« on: August 10, 2014, 04:04:31 pm »
I'm leaving soon to the Middle East on a year unaccompanied tour.  I am seeking 2 discounted tickets behind the dugout or home plate at a Washington Nationals game so that my middle school-aged son can enjoy awe-inspiring seats with me before leaving.  Desired game to attend is at home against the Pirates on Friday evening, 15 August or Saturday evening, 16 August.  This is for real, proof of deployment is available.  Thank-you.

Do you have a credit card? You're about to get a large bump in pay overseas if you're active duty. I'd actually help you out if I had seats in that location, though, because I know kids are expensive.

My suggestion would be to contact the Nats directly. They love showing off the military guys.

Good idea Jordanz.  My ticket rep is Kofi Acquash and his phone number is (202) 640-7802

...and if that doesn't work, PM me about seats on the Red Porch, CF is a great place to watch the game, DSpan takes care of the kids and we have a fair number of vets (myself included) who will be sure you are looked after.

Thanks everyone... I called Kofi Acquash and left a message, have not heard back.  I called and spoke to a representative and was told military can get $5 off a ticket at the box office, but it is first-come-first-served and not worth coming from 15 miles away to take a chance for $5.

My seats are in 404, so I can't help you there.  I also don't know your price range, but some tickets on the resell market are incredibly cheap.  This game next Tuesday has seats in 119 for around $45: https://seatgeek.com/diamondbacks-at-nationals-tickets/8-19-2014-washington-district-of-columbia-nationals-park/mlb/1893727/

Try going here:

Nothing behind home plate, but once you've registered and been confirmed by the site as a vet, you can get baseline reseverd for $45 with $15 worth of food/drink on the ticket.  That's pretty good deal ($30 for a $50 ticket)

Try this.

As the home of the national pastime in the Nation's Capital, the Washington Nationals are proud to work with the large community of military bases, installations and hospitals that serve as permanent or temporary homes to military service members and their families living in the Washington Metropolitan area.

In-Game Military Salute
The Nationals offer premium seating in the Lexus Presidents Club for select military groups and their families during every home game. The tickets include a gourmet buffet, complimentary in-seat food and beverage service, and views of the underground batting cages and post-game press conference. At the end of the third inning, honorees are recognized on NatsHD and receive a standing ovation from fans.

Patriotic Series presented by SAIC
Encouraging fans to celebrate the American spirit while enjoying the national pastime at Nationals Park, this series utilizes on-field programming and pregame assets, themed giveaways, and patriotic uniforms to honor service members and their families. Please see below for the 2014 Patriotic Series presented by SAIC schedule.

Armed Forces Day: May 17
Memorial Day: May 26
Independence Day: July 4
Heroes Day: September 10

Branch Nights
The Nationals dedicate one game a year to each of the five branches of the military. The team works closely with military partners to highlight the individuals and ideals that are unique to each branch. Please see below for the 2014 schedule of Branch Nights.

Navy Day: May 30
Army Day: June 18
Coast Guard Day: August 6
Marines Day: August 20
Air Force Day: September 25

Me and a Friend Program
In partnership with USO of Metropolitan Washington, this program recognizes the challenges that military children face as they continually relocate due to their parents' military assignments. The Nationals provide tickets to children of active duty service members for every Sunday game of the season, giving them the opportunity to use the free tickets to connect with peers and help make new friends. The group is also first in line for Kids Run the Bases after the game.

Player Visits
Nationals players are one of the team's most powerful and visible resources and they have embraced opportunities to show their personal support for our nation's heroes.

Throughout the season, players visit with wounded veterans and their families at hospitals and at the ballpark. These visits frequently transition into deeper relationships between players and veterans.

For the second consecutive year, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff invited a Nationals player on his USO Holiday Tour to bring cheer to members of the military serving abroad. Adam LaRoche represented the team on the tour, meeting with deployed troops in Greece, Afghanistan, Italy and Germany. In 2012, Craig Stammen and Ross Detwiler represented the Nationals on this special trip.

Discounted Game Tickets
Military service members receive deeply discounted Nationals tickets available exclusively to them and their families. Tickets can be purchased through MWR and ITT offices at area bases and the Pentagon. Most ticket levels also include a food and beverage credit to reduce the total cost of the outing.

For more information on the Nationals Military ticket discounts, please contact Ara Sarajian at 202.640.7695 or visit nationals.com/military.

For more information on the Nationals military initiatives, please contact the Community Relations Department at 202.640.7704.
