Yes thank goodness for the updated and new feel of Fenway

Fenway is a DUMP.  I can't believe they hang onto that like it's some prize.  At least Wrigley has seats that face the action.

I'm not hiding.  I grew up going to Fenway.  Then one day I went to Shea Stadium and saw a half-way decent ball park.  And that was Shea freaking Stadium.

Fenway sucks balls.

Fenway is historic and sentimental and all, but it's a pile of crap. And that's what I hear from a friend that's a Boston fan.

The historic parks (I'm referring to Fenway and Wrigley here) are awesome...for the first two or three times you see a game there. After that, the novelty wears off and you're stuck with tight seats, bad sight lines, closed concourses, small bathrooms, not enough food options, etc.

that's why they're great in other cities. I wouldn't want one for my local team, but they're good to visit every so often- the same as any historic building, they should be kept around for the sake of history just as long as I don't have to live/work in them or visit them often (NIMBY)  all the way

The only corporate name that really works IMO is Capital One Nationals Park. But I do like the Wegmans and Walgreens ideas! Might as well sellout and make some more money for the boss to pocket.

I laughed.
Really?  I cried.  That's one wound I think only a World Series win will heal.

Watch Gazprom decide they need some reps on this side of the pond...they've got the bucks--er, rubles--and already have their name on pretty much every stadium and jersey in Europe.

My wife's a preacher and has enough Jesus for the both of us.

Besides, Jesus hates Fenway and Boston altogether.

Then why did he part the waters with the Big Dig?

That wasn't Jesus.  Jesus is the divine incarnate which is why he would never even go to Boston, let alone part the HAHBOAH for the schmucks that live there.

I wonder if everyone would forget in 100 years if the park got named after the Lerners.

Then again, Lerner Park would also be a corporate named park by that standard in the same way that any team named after its owner is a corporate named park

If they bring a couple of World Series titles to Washington they can call it "Lerner Grass on Lerner Field at Lerner Park in the city of Lerner, DC - Capital of the U.S. freaking A., nages!" for all I care.

And?  Who the freak cares what the name of the park is?  Win ball games and people will show up to "Needledick Stadium, home of AMC Pacers."
