Yes, I think he goes back. And I suppose he can get a minority stake. Still don't see him ever owning. NBA franchise values will EXPLODE after 2016's new TV deal. The Clippers went for 2 billion after all.

The bucks and clippers were purchased knowing what the up coming tv deal was. His net worth is supposedly around $300 million, a huge chunk of that, some minority owners and lot of leverage may be enough

I thought he just got 300 mill off the beats by dre deal

Yeah I think the amount has been overblown (much like Mayweather inflates how much he's worth) but James still has a lot more money than he has made in NBA contracts and he will make more and I think eventually become an owner, in some level.

Depends how we define owner. He can totally be a Magic type face of the franchise owner. Don't think he will ever be a Jordan level owner.

Man, I do think he is going back, but Cleveland has trolled twitter into oblivion. Tracking a plane, cupcake store owner breaking the news, police at his house, annoucement at 3:30 today. Sheesh.

He may start out that way but I can see how he can eventually become a majority owner of a franchise.

Damn, two championships doesn't buy you the same equity it once did. Just the thought of his leaving Miami and his "fans" are already turning on him.

There are people who are Lebron fans who will root for him anywhere, but I don't believe Miami fans will react at all the way Cleveland did in 2010. It was 4 years of winning/near winning vs a city that hasn't won since 1964.

If he chooses Miami, though...

LeBron to Announce Decision at United Nations

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—N.B.A. superstar LeBron James said Tuesday morning that he would announce the name of the team that he is signing with on Thursday at a special session of the United Nations General Assembly to be convened especially for that purpose.

“This decision affects everyone on the planet,” James said. “I want to let all the nations on Earth know at the same time.”

An emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday was deadlocked on the issue, with seven members wanting James to remain in Miami, seven others hoping for a return to Cleveland, and Lithuania abstaining.

The Miami Heat president, Pat Riley, and the Cleveland Cavaliers owner, Dan Gilbert, both confirmed that they would be in the audience at the United Nations to hear James announce his decision. “I’m not going to lie: I wish he’d tell me in advance,” Riley said. “But I guess I’ll have to wait to hear along with Russia, China, Ecuador, and everybody else. That’s the way LeBron wants it.”

To help him with his decision, the N.B.A. star has assembled an esteemed circle of advisers, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and the scientist Stephen Hawking, all of whom are expected to be in attendance for the United Nations announcement.

The U.N. General Secretary, Ban Ki-moon, acknowledged on Tuesday that the world body had many other issues on its plate, including conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, but added, “It’s really hard to focus on anything until we know where LeBron is going.”

He's gotta be going back to Cleveland. He can't tease them again, can he? If he goes back to Miami after getting Cleveland's hopes up, I think that would classify as a dick move. In the beginning he could have gone anywhere if he did it quickly. Now he has created another drama and if he goes back to Miami it looks like he did this just for attention

is there anything actually attributable to him with Cleveland this time around? Most of this seems like media

Maybe I just don't pay attention but he doesn't really seem like a limelight guy. He is the best at his sport so he is gonna have a ton of endorsements. Compared to RGIII who is not the best at his sport but releases a new commemorative shoe every month, tweets out the release of his logo, and had rehab documentaries produced about him. Or compared to Manziel who can't get out of the way of a camera. I don't find LeBrons exposure out of line or irritating. I think a lot of it comes with the territory of being the best. Unlike that crap Favre used to pull

Makes total sense.  Who would want to suffer through more grim winters in dreary South Beach when they can live in that paradise on Lake Erie?

The letter makes it seem like this was a lifestyle, bigger than basketball decision for him. It's pretty clear now he always wanted to return. I wish him well. Hope he gets one for Cleveland.

This is a shameful, shameful day in the history of sports.  Cleveland should always get the short end of the stick.

Totally. I think Cleveland trades for Love now. Heat now have a ton of cap space. Hoard it, tear it all down, or go after IT, Bledsoe, Greg Monroe? Does Melo now go to Chicago to load up and win the East?
