Agreed, but shouldn't someone have thought of that by now...is the organization that stupid??
There is no organizational philosophy here. They just let the players go through the minors and see where they are after a few years.
There are so many MLB teams that Ian Desmond would have either learned to be a smarter hitter or he never would have made it to their major league team. In other organizations, Ross Detwiler would have learned how to throw a second pitch and become proficient at it or the wouldn't have made it through.
