Wow Ray Knight says a lot of errors made by Desi don't cost them runs so they're ok.  That's a guy I want managing a team.

and he's correct - that's THE guy i want managing MY team

The manager needs to not make obvious  and foolish mistakes that become apparent after they happen.

FTFY

What if he brings in Cedeno or Blivens and they give up a grand slam?  Then Matt shoulda stuck with the 8th inning guy.  Monday Morning QBing at its best.

Wow, the Marlins replaced Marmol with an even crappier pitcher who promptly serves up a leadoff hit to put the winning run on base.

Gattis walk-off. It's the Braves' year. Again.

BS Clip hasn't had it ALL year, you'd have to be blind not to see that.

The Nats are going to be 5 games back by the end of the month. Sad. This year is going exactly like last year's. We find ways to lose games, the Braves always pull em out.

All those people who say it's too early and that they don't even pay attention to the standings until August are going to be mighty disappointed when August comes around.

There's no way Clippard should have pitched to Ibanez, no way at all.  Bring in the lefty.

Yep. The Nats can't afford to keep blowing these games. Win now or be out of the race by summer.

But Matt said he's been our 8th inning guy for years and that's his inning to pitch regardless of the situation.

This is correct - Clip must come out after he walks the 190 hitter

he doesn't have it right now - be a manager, do the right thing, make the hard/but logical/easy choice

Bring in the loogy to face the lefty that has always OWNED Clip

it's a NO BRAINER

for freak sakes

really, I would have preferred that they keep Drew in to pitch the 8th

And wtf Ian either get your head out of your ass and make a routine play or take a seat on the bench.

Perhaps you haven't heard, though I've repeated it here a number of times.  I'm a process person not a results person. You can control the process.  You can't control the results.

Therefore....

With all the evidence you have about how Clippard is pitching, how Ibanez has hit against Clippard, how Clippard is pitching TONIGHT.  You can't let him pitch to Ibanez.  Whiy ignore all the evidence presented before you?  It doesn't matter what the pitcher you replace Clippard with does,(presumably a left hander so you'd have a lefty-lefty matchup)  You shouldn't make bad decisions on the frontend and then expect them to magically work out somehow on the backend.  That's a terrible process.

If it were possible, you could look at any of my criticism of Williams or Johnson or Riggleman or Acta or Robinson.  It's always about the decisions they make.

I just can't shake off this loss. What a massive letdown. Just when you start to feel encouraged about this team that happens. Only going to get worse when TJ gets ripped apart by the experienced Angels' lineup tomorrow night.

Nice comeback win yesterday and we were 4 outs away tonight from an impressive well-pitched game to improve to 3-2 on the homestand. Now we fall to 2-3 on the homestand, 2.5 back from Atlanta, and have to beat Skaggs and Weaver back to back just to salvage the series.
