Excellent movie

A lot of Brando's future Godfather persona in that clip...

Wouldn't a ring make your team a contender?     :couch:

I think you know the difference but each time the marlin win a ring the owner guts the team and bathes in that greatness for a while. I am not saying I wouldn't do the same just that it's a great way for a superstar to get on another roster.

Yep just saw.  Press conference at 630 EDT with Mike Redmond.  He's going on the DL so this is not good.

Bummer. I hope he's ok, but you always fear the worst.

Pitchers should just get Tommy John when they turn 18, like having your wisdom teeth out -

Good grief

elbow ligament sprain per reports.  Not confirmed yet, but he's likely heading for TJ.  Least surprising injury ever.

According to the Twitterz the young stud Fernandez is out for year. Real shame. Enjoyed watching him.

Mentioning a young stud getting hurt, will still never understand the smug sense of satisfaction it seemed many around baseball had when Strasburg got hurt as a rookie. Would rather watch Fernandez pitch than hear about him being hurt.

Young ace now almost inevitably ends in TJ, it's getting to be almost a sick joke

I'm going to need some actual verification on this.. because I don't remember that at all. And other team's SF's don't count... as they're only happy when bad things happen.

Not to excuse that, but Strasburg - and Harper too - are unique in that both were for all intents granted hall of fame status before throwing a pitch/taking an at bat.  I can't think of anyone else treated as such royalty before their first appearance.  (And in retrospect neither has lived up to expectation, but that's a different subject.)    And it caused quite a bit of resentment.  The resentment I understand. The satisfaction about the injuries I don't.

I gotta admit, when I saw Medlen go down for a second TJS, there was a bit of smugness

I remember there was some cheering in Philly when it happened and he walked off the field, but I don't remember much celebration around the game at large. I remember it being more like what Fernandez is getting. The smugness I remember was when the Nats lost (especially the way they lost) in the playoffs, not when he actually got hurt.

Don Cooper?  The Inverted W guys?  These guys were in the "I told you so" camp due to his motion.

He's something like the 18th TJ this year.  Even with a success rate of 85%, odds are there with be a couple of unsuccessful ones.  Of course, Josh Johnson and some of the second timers are a bit higher on the fail likelihood (and the success rate is lower).

that's correct

(unless they blame the elbow problems on shoulder fatigue)
