Yes, thus the Fonda reference.  That's one of the great speeches in movies I've ever seen.  Almost as passionate as Bluto, but more coherent.

I realize that's where you were going with Fonda.    Just wanted to share it.    It is one of the great passages in American literature and Fonda did it more than justice.

"I’ll be all around in the dark – I’ll be everywhere. Wherever you can look – wherever there’s a fight, so hungry people can eat, I’ll be there. Wherever there’s a cop beatin’ up a guy, I’ll be there. I’ll be in the way guys yell when they’re mad. I’ll be in the way kids laugh when they’re hungry and they know supper’s ready, and when the people are eatin’ the stuff they raise and livin’ in the houses they build – I’ll be there, too."

Honestly, the only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.

It feels icky rooting for the Cards. I'm hoping the Cards win 1-0 with a game winning wild pitch or Uggla errors or something.

Rooting for them does not increase their chances of winning so there's no reason to root for any team other than your own.

I think there's an important distinction between "rooting for the Cardinals" and "hating the Cardinals with the intensity of a thousand suns but hating the Barves even more"

I havent been around as long as some of you here but personally I have no reason to hate the Cards. They are a good team. Yes they eliminated the Nats from the playoffs but The Nats had a part in that. They squandered away a 6 run lead. Right now I am eyeing division title and the Cards are not in our division so they are not the immediate threat to us. I will always want the team that is not the immediate threat to beat the team that is. And the braves are the immediate threat. So yes I want the Cards to win. Just like I wanted the Giants to win over the weekend... and I confess, even though the Marlins are in our division it was alot of fun seeing them sweep the Braves...

I go back a long way (long before the Nats and/or Expos).    I don't hate the Cards.   I always respected them.    Maybe it was the Pittsburgh area boy they had on their team, a guy named Musial.    Maybe it was the picnic area they had in right field in their old park.    Maybe it was Gibson or Brock or Flood or because old Bob Skinner and Dick Groat ended up there or Ozzie.    I don't know but I don't hate them.     Never hated the Braves either  ...  until the likes of Dale Murphy and the super station.    After that, I rooted against them all the time.    We won't even bring up Sid Bream.     Since that time, there is no team in baseball I detest more than the barves.    Let's go Cardinals !!
