For anyone in the Fredericksburg, VA area - if you haven't tried Spencer Devon Brewing, you might want to check them out.  They are downtown.
Their beer is phenomenal, and their food is good too.  They have a few mainstay brews, but much of what they make is seasonal.  I recently had their "Nine Daughters Ale," and it may have been the best beer I have ever tasted.  Cheers!

ever been to the battlefield country store?

Ales suck. Drink lager or drink nothing.  :couch:

Kidding. I'm looking forward to True Respite's Bobcat "Tmave Pivo" dark Czech-style lager.

After binging on Longmire on Netflix and watching Walt Longmire drink nothing but Ranier beer I've got to try and find it. Since it's a west coast beer that might be tricky. Road trip!!  :mg:

Do you care if it's in a bottle/can or does it have to be on tap ?

Britain to go on national lock-down this coming Thursday - the Wetherspoon pub chain is offering pints during the run-up to the lock-down for 99p (=about US$1.30): https://www.standard.co.uk/reveller/bars/wetherspoons-99p-pints-national-lockdown-b40259.html

Yes.  It is amazing.  Some of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten.  They also do a different specialty milkshake every week.  My kids are big fans of those.

I am a big fan of lagers as well.  I enjoy pretty much any beer that is not an IPA.

I like both lagers and ales (really enjoy the latter on my annual London trips) but am in total agreement on no fruit flavour. When I was in Riga in 2013 I had a cherry-flavoured brew that was sweeter than most soda pop I've had - put me off fruit beers for good.

If you don't like fruity Belgian krieks, lambics, and sours, I am glad (more for me)

Water, yeast, hops, barley. Maybe wheat sometimes. It's not that hard. ;)

The Sam Adams cherry wheat is pretty good.

sours are awesome on a hot day. No marco brewery seems to make a good one though

I'm OK with an occasional sour, but I've seen far too many local breweries that seem to have nothing but IPAs and fruit-flavored beer, probably because their brewer has no idea what he's doing.

a good New England IPA is hard for an incompetent brewer to pull off

True, but it seems every new brewery in our area starts with a ton of IPAs until they figure out how to brew other stuff.  I'm just not a big fan of them.

When the Flyers were in town, people at RFD were running up big tabs on Bud Light - kind of like ordering Kraft Dinner at the French Laundry  :P

That would be me.  You'd like Pen Druid down in Sperryville, emphasis on sours with their unique approach to yeasts.

Me, give me the porters, stouts, barrel aged darks of any variety, scotch ales, brown ales, etc.
