oh trust me I think it's pretty :lmao: too I was just trying to figure out why a young dude with that kind of opportunity would want to voluntarily get hitched so young

I'm all for playing the field when you're young, but if you find the right girl then you gotta go for it. The right girl may not come around again, you know.

If you recognizer her as the "right girl" why would you wait? If she's right, everyone else won't measure up.

What appears to be right at 21 might not at 28.

So the lesson is not to go for it in case something better comes along later?

Something better might come along but something adequate is ALWAYS available.

Perhaps he views her as more than "adequate."

Maybe ballplayers view their high school/college sweethearts as being less likely to be gold diggers.

I wasn't referring to Kay.  I meant that if he decided to hold out, he might get better but if he doesn't there's a lot of adequate out there.

I'm not even sure BH34Natural ponders and discusses what will happen to Harper's loins as the last couple pages here. :poke:

So even if you weren't talking about her specifically, in general you would say pass up on what might be "the one" on the off chance that someone even better comes along later?  And deal with adequacy in the meantime?

Do these prospects age out at 26 like spoprtsnyan's minor leaguers?

Sorry, it's way too late to go back to that.  This sex talk is far more interesting.

Yeah, the right girl will wait.

Uh, no. Well, maybe for a while. But not for too long if everything else is right.

All of the sudden I feel like Dear Abby.

I think someone a few posts up hit the nail on the head. To answer Skippy's original question about why many baseball players seem to marry so young, I think athletes, as well as other types of celebrities gravitate towards the high school sweetheart or the person that loved them before they became "the star" They want someone who they can trust who isnt just after the name or the money. Some of these marriages end in divorce sure but thats a chance anyone takes not just ballplayers.

Off topic question but most of the Nats seem to have pretty good marriages. Are any of the guys divorced or ever had any relationship scandals?

No. Werth was doing Utley's wife.   That's part of the reason he was not re-signed by the Phillies.  One of them had to go, and Utley was more valuable.
