So my friend and I joined a CSA program (community-supported agriculture) and spent all day Saturday cooking a TON of awesome food. Read about it (the link has about a dozen pictures, too).

Quinoa is a seed, even though it is used like couscous or rice.  That is why I was wondering how the Paleo diet treats it.

Not the first time the question has been asked, evidently.

How many growing seasons are there in Texas?  I guess north Texas gets snow.

That was one thing that blew me away about Vietnam...in the southern part of the country, they would get three rice crops a year and fresh fruit and vegetables are in season pretty much year around.  I guess that's how you fit close to 100m people in a country the width of a shoelace.

Made these tonight. Cooked four hens for the two of us and we ate three of them. Fantastic. The marinade/baste was delicious. Next I'll have to figure out the proportions for a chicken or a turkey instead of Cornish game hens. The magazine suggested this for Thanksgiving as an alternative to turkey. That's irrelevant for us this year since we aren't hosting, but man, the flavor was great.

No pictures this time. We were too busy eating.

Nothing sad at all. I would do it yourself using quality hot dogs (Berks are the best).

(credit to "Bacon Bits" blog):

Bacon-wrapped Grilled Kielbasa

    1 lb high-quality Kielbasa
    1/2 lb thick-cut bacon
    1/4 cup maple syrup
    3 tbsp mustard
    Chili powder
    Fire
Cut the kielbasa into one-to-two-inch chunks.

Simmer in some water for a few minutes.

Remove from the water and wrap each one with half a slice of bacon.

Impale with moistened bamboo skewers and commence grilling.

Combine maple syrup, mustard, and chili powder in a bowl.

Once the bacon is crisp, brush the meat on all sides with the glaze and grill for a few additional minutes.

I had multiple coworkers drooling today. Brought in enchiladas stuffed with spicy chorizo, sweet potatoes, spinach, and goat cheese, and topped 'em off with Hatch green chile sauce. For dinner I'm having a nice stew of beef, okra, tomatoes, and Indian/Pakistani spices.

The glazed bacon in the outside looks great,  the inside looks like soggy nastiness

i had sushi at a Morimoto restaurant last night.  Even though I paid $30 for a rainbow roll, i'd do it again.  Best sushi i've ever had by a mile.

Rainbow rolls are the best non-spicy rolls around.
