Just watching the game makes you realize the Nats have a way to go before they can really be considered a contender for the NL crown. The Cards are noticeably better in almost every aspect of the game.

I have to disagree.  This is the Cardinals.  This is nowhere near as good as the Nationals could be if they were well managed.

Nice bunt single for Lombo.

If Span bunts I quit. This is a hitting situation not a sacrifice situation. 6 outs left, can't afford to waste one.

Lombardozzi's WAR is the primary reason why I don't trust WAR as a measure.  His WAR is always well under 1 which means he less than replacement level and then I watch him play.

Large crowd in the Oakland market.    Weekend action is over and every one is home 'cause the crack houses are closed.

I love Lombo in a completely different way than my ex does. The guy always seems to come through.

Bye.

Over the years we've learned that SF is not a man of his word though.

Could be, the Cards overall approach is just solid...we've got good talent, but have got some growing up to do.  The Cards just grind and grind in every phase.  As SF said we have to be at our best to beat them, I don't think the reverse it true right now.

Now you need a single and only 2 outs left.

Why not let Span try to get a hit to keep the rally going? Now if Zimmerman chokes it's over.

If he had grounded into a DP you would be nagging about why Davey didn't opt to bunt the runners over to put them in scoring position and removing the DP possibility for Zimmerman.

stupid. ground ball, still down by 1 run.

If we were down 1 the bunt would have been fine but we were down by 2.... Awful.

What if Span doubled down the line or even a single?
