It's a rivalry of sorts.  The I-70 series, I think.  The teams played in the World Series.

I think the Royals are a tip of the cap to the Monarchs, so they are both tied to baseball history.

Very much Missouri - the ballpark is quite some way east of town.

...if for no other reason than in Britain (where Monty Python of course originiated) a parakeet is generally known as a budgie (short for budgerigar; - remember the line 'vacuum cleaner sucks up budgie' in the Clash's 'The Magnificent Seven').
