They already have or will have massive contracts on Werth, RZ, JZ, Desi, Harper, Stras, etc.

Desi and JZ are getting to the point where an extension is now or never, and Stras isn't far behind.  They'll get a couple signed in addition to Wert and RZ,  but no way they keep all of them

Take some meds for freaks sake.  What do you expect them to do, put a $100M player in every position?  They already have or will have massive contracts on Werth, RZ, JZ, Desi, Harper, Stras, etc.  Some people will never be happy.
Uh, yeah. They're called the LoD.

Stupid lunatic rants about spending money should be kept in the appropriate thread.  Asinine.

I forgot this is your first offseason here. Expect many stupid pipe dreams suggested and lots of lunatic rants. Zimm_da_kid will jerk off to every Asian free agent available, LoD will go nuts when Cano doesn't sign here, etc, etc. It is entertaining.

Ahh, gold old hot stove season, lol!

I'm pretty sure that I'd be pissed if the Nats don't address one, or both, of the big holes.  First base and the bullpen.  I'm on the fence about trading for Price.  Nats probably don't have enough bullets to do it, but if they do he easily makes this team better for the near future.  I could see Zimmermann being traded next offseason to recoup the loss from Price and the hopefully the Nats can hold onto one of Giolito or Cole, but that is way too much hoping.

Need some good lefties to compete against the Cards. Hope Detwiler gets his groove back (and his back grooved).

yea shore up the bullpen with some cheap smart contracts. there isnt anything to do unless they sign ellsbury and span seems to have endeared himself after a solid second half, so i doubt that happens.

Yep, dude....spot on.  We needed an upgrade, had a chance to take a risk, but a caluclated one, at a guy that even if he only hits .270 and 25 would be a steal at that price.

This has repercussions beyond this season.  I had thought the Lerners would spend when the time was right, but I think  we're seeing the real deal now.

If not spend now, then wehn?  After a 98 win year and thena disappointing mid-80 win season where you saw some promise but also some holes that need filling, we rest on our laurels hoping that Adam laroche is going to change his medicine, gain weight and get his power back?  Whoooopdeefriggin doo.  I dont give a toot about Laroche's power....I care about his .235 BA and Ks.

I'm telling you now like Ive said all along....if we roll into 2014 with this same lineup we will have an OUTSIDE shot at a wild card, at best.  Mark my words.

If this franchise sits tioght and does nothing about this offense we know one of 3 things:

1.)They are incompetent
or
2.)They are cheap
or
3.)They are paralyzed w/ fear of making a big move/trade

Still have two seasons of team control on both. And, frankly, JZ isn't worth more than what we gave Gio until he proves he can pitch in the second half

If you wait until they're totally proven,  you end up not being able to afford them

This gif will never get old.

Needs to have a Nats shirt photoshopped onto it and then made into a smiley

Desmond is totally proven.  He's a top 3 SS in baseball.

I don't think an extension gets done with Zimmermann as he will want more money and will get it if he can go a full season

I'm going to be laughing me arse off at all of you next August when Strasburg is either hurt or has a + 4 ERA and Laroache is hitting .230, and we HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS WE HAD IN 2013.

I hope to GOD we don't trade for Price.  Priospects should ONLY be dealt for hitting.  Trade Stars for a bat, sign a FA starter to replace him, and sit on the pitching prospects for the next couple of years.

If Laroche is at 1b, and we don't upgrade Span....we will be in the same place as 2013.  You all can stop getting your hopes up.

@ajcbraves 3m
Hearing #Braves would have interest in #Reds 2B Phillips if Cincy takes Uggla in deal. ATL probably have to include a top prospect.

I'd like the Braves to take that. They'd lose a ton of money and give up a prospect for a guy who is all glove at this point

Agree.  The Barves need offense and they won't really get much increase in Phillips.

Braves need a high average, low strikeout guy to balance all the free swinging power they have

So Stras is either injured or has a 4+ ERA and you don't think they need pitching help?

Funny enough, if they could get something in return I wouldn't be against it.  Their SP is a strength, I have a lot of confidence in JV, Sanchez and Fister and they have a solid minor leaguer that could be Show ready.  The bullpen is very weak, though the same could potentially be said about the Nats pen.  I don't think either 2b are signed past this year and neither of them are worth a crap, IMO.  I would love to see Rendon become a Tiger.  Getting a corner OF would be nice as the LF is not set/solid and Hunter only has one year left.
