Interesting, hadn't heard of that.  I'm certainly familiar with the "G-word" ending in -o, but that doesn't seem to carry much of a punch.  Either way, I'll let FP dissect such nuances and move on scratching my head as to how it relates to Werth.

Look at who posted it and make a guess of its connotation.
I just wanna know where the statement comes from.  That's all.

Can't imagine. Urban Dictionary explains why it's such a negative term for IAs, but many IAs use it amongst themselves. Maybe he's of Italian extraction.

Totally my thought too.  All of the Italians I knew in NJ used guinea almost as a term of endearment.

That doesn't preclude you being of Italian descent.      :poke:

Ha I wish, the food is much better than what my peeps came up with lol
Ok enough with gatanats' strange way of saying he likes Werth, let's all go back to talking about what a great job he's doing for us this season

What does this mean? The only definition of the word I can find is a racial slur for Italians that is similar in meaning to the N word.

I hope you aren't surprised by that.  Dude's on his fourth wnff.net account.

I'm not surprised, but it shouldn't be allowed, either.

He's always used it as a compliment, basically for a guy who is clutch and tough.  I've spotted it before.  He's either trying to see if he can confuse us or he's using like various groups turn around an insult from others to a complement within the group.

At least that's why I always took MDS's honky references as a compliment.

I don't have the history with banning the guy or the prior incarnations.  I'm leaving it to Tom and The Chief.

Ask Nathan, but I think that's been discussed before.

I guess my thought is that the regional/ethnic double-meaning slurs shouldn't really have a place here (or anywhere, for that matter, but that's a conversation for a different thread...)

Since we're just about cooked, I'm at the point of starting to root for our guys' personal statistics.  It's not like anyone is really having a big year in any headline category (except maybe JZimm being at the top of wins list), so I have my eye on Werth finishing with a .900 OPS.  He's pretty close now.  It's not particularly meaningful, but would probably put him in the top ten in the league.

I think we'll have a good race with the Braves for the division in '14!

if we can snag the second wild card then I think werth has a real shot at NL MVP.  Here are his stats so far this year and where they would rank if he qualified:
.323 AVG 5th
.398 OBP 3rd
.529 SLG 4th
17    HR   12th (T)

His RBI total is just 50 with todays game which puts him tied for 34th with LaRoche but he's only 16 RBI away from the top 10 and with his hot streak he should soar up those charts.

He'll have a case for it if we pull out of this and make the playoffs.
