Just a guess - no, but for the near term he only starts against lefties.

The Nats pitchers have 349 strikeouts already on the year.  Extrapolate that out another three times and you get 1396 strikeouts.  That's over $50,000 at $37 per strikeout; at $3700 like you suggested it would be over  $5 million.  I understand that $37/K sounds really cheap but over the course of the season it adds up to a very nice donation, and I'm not sure the local Toyota dealers can afford to spend $5 million (or $500k) on a single promotion like this.  Maybe $137 per strikeout, which would have been a donation of over $190,000, might have been doable, I guess, but I don't think this is a mean-spirited effort.

$50,000 from ALL of the dealers together is what I complained about. $5 million is excessive, I was using hyperbole, I admit it. If they can do $100 per strikeout for Balmer, do $137 here. I guess calling it the same as 37 cents was too much hyperbole

Baltimore's pitcher's have 299 Ks going into today.  that projects to about 1200 Ks, or $120,000 for the year.  Could have done $73 for #37 as the promo and come to around $100K, which is more comparable.  But any contribution is good, and I'm hoping Ford dealers sponsor Gio at $47 a K.

I think that's it. Also the slow "hollowing out" of manufacturing from Pennsylvania west to Illinois or Wisconsin. I saw Buffalo around Auigust of '07, and it was spooky to drive from a hotel in the suburb of Auburn right down to the HSBC tower during rush-hour but never see a traffic build-up.

Yeah I definitely don't think it's right for a millionaire baseball player to try to to berate fans for not using their hard earned money on a game.  Bet he won over a lot of fans with those comments.
