Why would anyone who's already a star in their own right want to play next to a cocky kid who's never heard anything but how great he is?

How many athletes think this way?

Werth certainly didn't.  CJ Wilson did.

Why would Fielder sign in Texas if he has to live in Texas?  Makes no sense.

Tons of MLB players make their homes elsewhere...

Sure, some of them want to live out West. CJ wanted to be with his liberal-hippy-yuppy friends and the good weather.

Oh gee, I have multiple millions of dollars, I should be set for life. Maybe I can make the most sensible decision and not worry about money.

Like 1% of them. That's why Cliff Lee going to Philadelphia to create 4_aces_are_you_kid_ding_me_? was such a shocker.

Very few.  Especially not someone like Fielder who's rich but not $100 mil rich.  Cliff Lee chose between 2 or 3 separate $100 mil deals.  Not one $100 mil deal and one $50 mil deal.

Dwayne Wade.

Bryce Harper hasn't done crap in MLB.  To even compare him to LeBron James is idiotic at best.

Why would Fielder sign in Texas if he has to live in Texas?  Makes no sense.

This makes zero sense.

Got that right, the whole state is a hell hole.  I'm so lucky as to be making two trips there in the next couple months, gotta come up with an excuse to get out of it.

Orange County is about as far removed from liberal-happy land as you can get.  Still, look at Cliff Lee.

There is a strong sentiment among many players - I've heard - to take the most money because it's the right thing to do for the player's union.

Also, all the things Texas is now - a consistent, winning franchise - are what the Nats are poised to become.  They will be a pretty good team this year even without Fielder.

Texas was a pretty consistent loser for most of the last decade or so.  They only got good recently.

Now repeat this with "Nationals" in place of "Texas", but leave off the second sentence.

Sports Illustrated made the comparison several years ago.  Are all of them idiots but Marquis de Sade of WNFF.net is not an idiot?

No, you compared Prince and Bryce playing to Dwayne Wade and LeBron James playing together.  Those two comparisons are so fooking far apart.

Sure, but Dwayne Wade and LeBron James were both veterans, Bryce, as I mentioned early, hasn't done dick.

Why be like that about it?  It's an obviously terrible comparison, that's all.  Nobody's saying any this.

Right, I was agreeing with you. The SI article about how hyped they are doesn't explain why Prince would want to play with Bryce.

This is silly. He'll sign with us if we have the best deal on the table. If there is a comparable offer, we're not landing him.

In their prime like Josh Hamilton and company?

True, but it's not as if they're an uber-talented bunch. Solid, but they play in a bandbox. Josh will probably not be resigned; he'll demand a huge contract that JD doesn't feel he's worth (due to health concerns). That's the reason I seem them signing Yu or Fielder (maybe both, but that's a reach), because they'll have two contracts coming off the books next season
