Writer from NY taking shots at the Nats:

The only time I want the "Home Team" to take a loss at Nationals Park.

They took the T out of STH and made it SPH, but in creating the discount code for this year they included the abbreviation TIX.

Only four extra tix this year for the presale, I need at least six, likely a bunch more.

Quote
PRESALE FOR SINGLE GAME TICKETS: FEBRUARY 18-26

As a valued Washington Nationals Season Plan Holder, we are excited to offer you the opportunity to purchase additional 2014 single game tickets and parking passes at a special Season Plan Holder price before they go on sale to the general public! You can take advantage of these significant savings during our presale which will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, February 18 and end at 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, February 26.

IMPORTANT:
Included in this presale will be an opportunity to purchase four (4) tickets to the home opener against the Atlanta Braves on Friday, April 4 at 1:05 p.m. To purchase these four (4) tickets you will use the one-time use password you received via email.
*Partial Season Plan Holders: Opening Day is not included in 2014 Partial Season Plans. Please use this opportunity to secure Opening Day seats.

This presale also allows you to purchase up to twelve (12) additional tickets for all remaining home games.

Buy tickets starting 2/18 at 10 a.m. ET

Once the presale ends, you can still purchase discounted tickets beginning February 27 by using the same special coupon code SPHTIX when prompted within the online purchase page for other Nationals 2014 home games.

Thanks much PB.  We never do our season ticket draft until mid March so it's impossible to know what games to get for personal use.  The opener is always valuable bug song those usually sell out in the pre sale?

The opener usually does not sell out during presale but does sell out in a few minutes when released to the general public.

Sorry about the typos.  So is your interpretation that they will be open for sale to the public on feb 28?

Via @MASNKerr, the youth baseball academy that MLB contracted to build as part of the Nats Park deal, from this picture you can see why it took six years longer to build than the actual ballpark. Of course we'll be hearing over the next few weeks about how the generous Lerner family to donated this facility to the city.

@CharlieDaveArmy asked a good question on Twitter about whether Mark Foley will be allowed to visit the youth baseball facility.

The sale today has a one time use code, SPHTIX won't work until the 27th, it will get you "season ticket holder prices", which are less than single game prices but more than most of us are paying due to the three year price lock.

Ok, will try on the 27th.
I am on a Nats insider presale email list also and they promised to send an email for presale today but they didn't.
Oh well.

Are the Nats ever going to fix their ticket system?

I tried to get 4 seats together for Opening Day (4 is the limit for SPH's).  They didn't have 4 together, suggested I try other section...why? These are for my guests, I want them to be able to sit in the same section? So I try 2 seats, get them in the cart and ask for 2 more, same section, same game - can't do that - can't have two seperate sets of tickets for the same event in the same shopping cart...
So I went and asked for three tickets, sure enough, they can sell me three - three different ones than the two they wanted to sell me earlier, so I now know there are five seats available in that section, just not together. So I went back to add one more ticket to my cart (anywhere) - nope, can't have two defferent items for the same event in the cart...Stupid, so instead of letting me pay them for four tickets, I'll now pay them for 3 tickets.
I swear, it's like expecting to get service from a non-profit organization.

The United have a ticket system that allows you to pick your seats, meanwhile our MLB club still has a system where you can't control whether you sit on the home or visitor side.

Couldn't get 4 seats together at any descent section for the Opening Day. Got two at section 129. After checking out the system didn't let me to buy another two saying that I depleted my limit. Not a tragedy but very strange approach.

I was thinking to get a couple for my friends. But they will be able to get tomorrow themselves if they want :)

I just cannot believe that I couldn't get 4 tickets together anywhere while I logged into the system at 2PM sharp.

I'm thinking you'll be able to get good deals on stub hub given it's not a "real" opening day.

Is there really less interest for a home opener that's not a season opener? I'm just add amped either way.

It's not an MLB problem, it's a Nats problem.  I have picked specific seats based on on-line seating charts  for Pirates games, White Sox, even Spring Training games in Jupiter and Lake Buena Vista - the Nats must've bought the cheap package from MLB.

Right, I've bought Cards and Astros tix and selected my seats. I was just trying to contrast that a scrub soccer league has a better ticket system than an MLB team.
