Jimmy Rollins laughing.

Wait until he faces Sabathia. Phil Hughes might be OK again, and Posada got about 6 RBIs. Still, I wish Strasburg was healthy and Harper was ready. Wish they had already signed Rendon, examined his shoulder, started his rehab.

I can't wait for postgame. Somebody has to say something about this!

Debbi Taylor: "You managed to score a few runs after being down by a lot. Can you feed off this effort for tomorrow's game?"

Wait until he faces Sabathia.

Probably licking his chops, seeing Sabathia giving up 12 earned runs in has last two outings.

Isn't the last two...it's that 2.93 ERA this year.

Lannan's ERA today was fine.

Difference is that Sabathia has serious players behind him. Tex, Cano, Jeter, ARod, Gardner, Granderson...ever Swisher can field when he is in the mood.

Yes. I was anticipating what she might say in the postgame interview.

True, especially in the run support area.  But Sabathia has always been a horse, the kind of guy you build your rotation around.  Sucks that the Yankees can just buy up a guy like that, but it is what it is.

...and the Lerners have the money...I'm hoping that they pay Werth-money for a slugger.

Difference being it's a huge gamble for the Nats to put down that kind of coin on a player, while for the Yankees if they make a mistake, they can just write it off and move on.

Yankees team revenue is probably more than 4 times the Nats revenue.

Of course, you don't get and stay rich by throwing it out the car window.

Anybody that thinks the Lerners are going to go spend crazy are themselves delusional.  THey are going to spend within the revenues the team generates, leaving a profit margin and are not going to make additional contributions of their own wealth to the franchise.

It's not.  It's a little more than 2 times, 441 to 184.

You're not including a lot of additional Yankees wealth that is excluded from their total - primarily their TV network.  Nats with their piddling little MASN stake get practically nothing from MASN residual profits, while the Yankees owners rake a couple hundred $m above what you've quoted as team revenues, which only include the rights fee.

Nats have the same market as the Redskins. Yankees have the same as the Giants. Lerners have to remember that. Spend accordingly...win and you make money.

And the Lerners are, far and away, the wealthiest owners in major league baseball, which trumps all of that.
