Purke got rocked again.  1 inning, 4 hits, 3 er's.  But he lowered his era to a cool 29.70

i'm still not concerned about him.  He hasn't pitched since the spring and even then he was battling injuries.  Give him some time and he will be fine.

I'm wondering if they keep trotting him out to just get rocked, or just shut him down until spring training

Harper with the walk-off 3-run homer.  It is his second straight game with a homer and four RBIs.  BA is up to 260.

Now people who know nothing about the nats will stop saying he sucks and will start saying he's the next Griffey again

He's the next Ken Griffey. Senior or Junior...doesn;t matter. (Unless he's the next Mickey Mantle??)

Or does he mean he's going to play CF for the Yankees?  :stir:

That would be Cutter Dykstra.  Walters is from the Marquis trade.

I'll settle for Mantle.:~)

IIRC, Griffey Senior was a good hitter but didn't have wheels, couldn't throw well and was not much with the glove.

Before OBP was cool, he had 3 straight years over .391, .401, and .389 at the start of his career in 1975 - 77.  Career OPS+ of 118.  Between age 25 and 31, he was a 3 time all star for Cinci.  By the time he hit NYY at age 32, he was in his league average phase of his career, with only 2 of his last 9 years above his career OPS+.  Stole 34 bases in 1976, with a .336 / .401 / .450 line.  Negative defender by total zone all but two years.   I think his 1976 at a young age made him look like something special, and he was just good enough for NYY to think he was worth going after.

Ah I knew it was one of the more recent trades.
