Hope Purke pitches in a park with Pitch f/x installed. Would love to get a look at his velocity.
Matt Purke:- 2.0 IP, 38 pitches for 20 strikes- 1 H, 1 BB, 1 ER- One strikeout that came on a called strike (91 MPH fastball)- He threw a combo of fastballs, changeups, and sliders- The fastball ranged from 88-92 MPHHis endurance probably isn't that great and this is the first taste of pro ball he has gotten besides instructs. Overall, not a bad debut for him.
that's freaking awesome. Now let's see if he makes his next scheduled start or if they send him to see Dr. Andrews.
Harper continues his string of starting cold. If this holds, he'll come up in July, go 1-24, and we'll all be calling for him to be DFAd.
I am completely shocked that Norris was on 3 out of 6 PAs.
It would be interesting to look up the percentage of PAs that he's walked, homered or struck out.
I understand from Nats Insider that Rendon will play in the AFL soon. Hope it's true. Harper not in the lineup today BTW.
Though the Nationals discussed sending Rendon to the Arizona Fall League — a more prestigious assignment than instructional league — it was decided that the slow pace in Florida would put Rendon in a better position to make an impact in spring training, Harris said.“We had some initial conversations [about the Arizona Fall League], but in the end we really felt united in the fact that he hadn’t played a lot of baseball,” Harris said. “It would not be a real strong, intelligent decision to put him in an advanced league when he hasn’t played since May.”
