Great game, great night at the park! Marquis was superb.

That foul ball shot by Nix was a rocket. Good grief he is smashing the ball. Desmond was great.

Tons of Giants fans there, lol. It was great to give them almost nothing to cheer about.

Is Rick Ankiel using The Prodigy's "Smack my nag up" for his walkout music now?

IDK, it was weird, I called it "Club Ankiel" when he came to the plate.

The Giants fans were pretty quiet, and polite.  It was awfully strange,  I don't think any of them around us ever cheered (not that they had much to cheer for).

Kilgore:

Quote
One thing was unanimous Friday night in the Nationals clubhouse: No one could remember a they’ve seen hit harder than the bomb Laynce Nix hit off the third deck in right field, just a few feet foul and maybe 450 feet from home plate. When Nix unleashed a comically violent swing and sent the ball to a spot only Adam Dunn and Bryce Harper have ventured, the 21,399 in attendance gasped, like they could not believe what they’d seen. “Amazing,” Ian Desmond said.

Amazing ...  I left for Richmond in the bottom of the 2nd inning; Desmond just hit a double; listened to the game on the way down; picked up my son; turned around and came back; turned on MASN and it's the replay .... bottom of the 2nd.   Desmond just hit a double.   Phew.   It's like 1968 all over again.

TRJPWH had a great outing in 2005.

John Patterson's line 8/4/2005:  9IP, 4H, 0R, 0ER, 0BB, 13SO, 0HR; 116 pitches; 84 strikes
Jason Marquis' line 4/29/2011: 9IP, 5H, 0R, 0ER, 0BB, 7SO, 0HR; 96 pitches; 64 strikes

As impressive as those 13 Ks are to seven, I think, just going by the lines there, Marquis had the better performance. 96 pitch CGs, hell, any CG under 100 pitches, is truly phenomenal. What an incredible performance, pitching nine innings with just 96 pitches! What a game.

I still think Pedro Astacio's CGS of the Brave is the best pitching perfomance I have seen in person.

Yes -- they were polite. I didn't mean to indicate they were otherwise... but in my section they were cheering plenty. There were tons of Giants fans around us. It was nice that the day was ours. :)

Am I nuts for thinking hockey is boring and weird?

Not to me. I have no interest in watching the sport. FWIW I do root for the Caps to win.

Kilgore:

It was a rocket. It was unbelievable. I had a horrible angle and actually thought it bounced off the foul pole.

Anyone who thinks hockey is boring has never watched hockey (especially live since it's the best sport to see live) and doesn't understand hockey.
