It seems like they're starting to settle in a bit.

Agreed. Much better and much more relaxed tonight.

FP is better tonight, but he needs to learn when to shut up.
Yeah, I can see that being an issue for FP. For my money, all those announcer guys talk too much. Sometimes I just turn down the sound and watch the game with music on just to shut them up.

Though, for a guy that doesn't like to talk about his playing years... he sure does talk about it a lot.

He sure does. It's like how when I started to work out and diet, I told myself I would never talk about how much weight I lost. But I just can't stop myself from telling people I've lost 25 lbs since the beginning of the year. I think it's due to more discipline at the plate. I've also learned to relax a little bit and not to stress about what others think. After all, if I stay within myself I should be OK.

FP has been a welcome addition.  Dibble was too much of a homer, minus his one stupid shot at Stas.  When we played the O's and MASN  had both Jim Hunter and Dibble in the booth, I could barely stomach listening to those two apologists.

Charlie and Dave had a brilliant interchange the other night, talking about someone that made a baserunning blunder. What was he thinking? Where was he going? What did he see? Back and forth like this for six or seven handoffs. Then silence. You could tell they were grinning and sort of congratulating each other. It was a nice, unobtrusive, amusing piece of broadcasting. But I guess they've been together for several years now, and it takes time to build that kind of rapport.
Bob: [paraphrasing] "Speaking of catchers, we've got a catcher in the minor leagues, Jesus Flores, that idolizes two players.  Pudge Rodriguez and..."

FP: "Me!?"

Bob: "...No."

FP: "...oh :("

 that's the kind of good back and forth that I like in an crew.

Charlie and Dave are the best radio broadcasters I've heard in the MLB so far.  I've probably heard about 10-15 of the other crews and none of them are as good.

This makes me sad because I've never listened to them.

If you have an iPhone or Android phone, the $15 At Bat app includes audio so you can listen to them, that's what I do every night at work.

I know, but I already bought MLB.TV  :?

I wish it would allow you to listen to radio feed and watch games.

MLB.tv comes with audio.  In fact, from what I understand, there is a new feature where you can even watch and have the radio feed synced as the audio instead of the MASN audio portion.  Even if not, you can listen to the audio on your PS3 or PC.

charley and dave going on and on the other day about Pudge grounding into double plays through his entire at bat was priceless.

The Hu at bat was hilarious tonight as well.  "Who's pinch hitting?" "Exactly."

I like FPS's positive attitude. You feel like you are right in the dugout with the players. They are thinking of ways winning it.

I'm okay with him so far.  He's got to improve his knowledge of the team, but I expect him to.  He's got to improve how he works with Bob, but again, that will come.

Frankly FP is just OK. But anybody coming after Dibble is going to seem like the second coming...

Yep, that was really funny. I had to explain the whole Abbott and Costello routine to my 15 y.o. son. We are still laughing. Got to look it up on YouTube now!

I've watched the entire game and I can't recall a single comment he's made.  Which is good considering that usually I only notice announcers when they are annoying, but I sure do miss Dibble and the smack'em yack'em.

Seems like he's out there to toe the company line.  Lame.

Not that I expected anything different.  I blame the franchise, not FP.

He's got some personality. He's reaffirmed today that he's afraid of mascots, in this case Mr. Mets. When asked what he would do in a situation he said "I'd do X, but I'm not in the dugout, I'm up here wearing makeup and a tie." It was good for a laugh.

It's amusing to me that FP was not a pitcher yet he is better at talking about pitching than Dibble ever was. I'm glad to hear FP break down each situation and talk about what the pitcher should do, or try to rationalize why the pitcher threw a pitch. I don't miss here "BRING THE HEATER" or "HE SHOULD'VE THROWN [fill in the blank with a pitch he did not throw]"
