The Nationals must hate Willie Harris.

Adam Kennedy popped for DUI, three recent Nats arrested in one off season,  Rizzo did a hell of a job cleaning out these bums.

Phillies Rule-V pick from the Nats, Michael Martinez having a decent spring (second most ABs on the team):

.293/.311/.448, 3 Doubles, 2 HRs, 8 RBIs, 2 BBs, 11 Ks, 2 SBs, 0 CS.

The signing of Luis Castillo makes his chance to make the team a little less slim but he's still got a good shot.

Quote
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said the Phillies would not make any final roster decisions until next week, when they host the Pirates in the On Deck Series at Citizens Bank Park. If Castillo has an edge because of his experience, the Phillies could be looking for the player with the most versatility since Castillo plays only second base.

"Martinez plays more positions," Manuel said. "But there is a difference between Spring Training and the Major Leagues."

Martinez is a Rule 5 Draft pick with no big league experience. He went 2-for-4 Wednesday against the Rays and is hitting .293 (17-for-58) with three doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs in 25 games this spring.

"He's got energy. He's got talent," Manuel said.

But will it be enough to stick around? Manuel said the Phillies won't say until next week.

Seconded. He actually looks good in those colors. Seriously, since I camp to post along the same lines, he actually looks good in that jersey. Of course he looks like he's about to kill someone, so I think he's clearly not a happy puppy right now.

But man, does he look amazing!!! In that he's not wearing a Nats jersey. That's what I had come here to post. Little did I know it was true. Even once he's gone, he finds ways to beat and frustrate me. Why won't you die, Nyjer Morgan, why won't you die?

Would rather have him on this team than Stairs.  Nix can give you the lefty PH with pop, and, despite Belli's penchant for playing rover rather than 2d, he's more useful in the field than Stairs.

Pete Orr makes the Phillies 25 man roster, Utley/Brown/Lidge start the year on the DL.  They better hope that rotation is as epic as it is being hyped.

I saw Chad Cordero pitch for the Blue Jays last week and was curious if he made the roster.  He didn't but I found this.  It's a veritable who's poo of former Nationals.  It brings back so many bad memories.

Quote
Assigned OF Eric Thames, 1B David Cooper, RHP Winston Abreu, RHP Chad Cordero, LHP Sean Henn, LHP Mike Hinckley, LHP Will Ledezma and LHP Rommie Lewis to their minor league camp. Placed LHP Jesse Carlson on the 60-day DL.
