I only just noticed that during the ALCS Stephen Strasburg tweeted that Justin Verlander "has to step it up." Not sure how I feel about that...

Its awesome! I mean it seems awkward for a pitcher like Strasburg to say that, especially after Verlander gave him credit for saying he and Strasburg are pretty similar... but its still cool to see Strasburg say that. Seems like he'll give it his all, all the time.

Justin Verlander was terrible in the playoffs. I'm sure he's not the only one who thought that.

Stepping it up doesn't necessarily mean someone is doing poorly. You have to step up and rise to the occasion when you're in big situations.

That is awful. He was one of my favorite Mariners. I watched several Mariners games specifically to see him play when he got called up last season. He struck out a lot, but he had excellent defensive versatility and a really nice power stroke. I think he would have been a Rick Ankiel type fourth outfielder at the very least, and perhaps a quality starter on a team with a more hitter friendly ballpark. A really horrible thing.

The onus of proof is on the Marlins to prove Pujols isn't 31 as he says... not on Albert to defend himself.

Oddly enough, I just found out yesterday that I missed being high school teammates with him by two years.

He transferred after his eight grade year at Huguenot Academy in Powhatan to Goochland High School, after Huguenot Academy became Blessed Sacrament Huguenot.

I transferred to BSH in my 10th grade year.

one way to look at it, another is that he faced 969 batters in 2011, a far larger number than any at bats any position player had

I liked how talk radio was trying to say Ellsbury was worthy because he was on a winning team, but Bautista wasn't because he was on a losing team.

News flash, they both finished .500 or better and neither one made the playoffs.

I just don't get the non-playoff or losing team nonsense. I mean, Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw.

I probably would have voted Ellsbury - Bautista - Verlander. Maybe Verlander second.
