FOLLOWUP-Nationals fans, I need your help
« on: January 05, 2011, 10:15:55 am »
Thank you to those of you who did help me out by voting for me. Unfortunately, I was slaughtered in the voting, finishing 9th place with 4% of the vote. The winner got 41% of the vote for his story about taking his small children to their first MLB game in Atlanta.
To those of you who lambasted me for choosing a Phillies moment as my favorite sports memory, or those who did not vote for me because it was a Phillies moment, I have to take exception to that. First of all, some of you seemed to imply that this made me a Phillies fan. Absolutely not true, will always remain a Nationals fan. But I am also a huge baseball fan, and to have been lucky enough to be in attendance for a great accomplishment like this was really special. I am a Nationals fan, but also a big baseball fan in general. Even that night in Miami, when Halladay came to the mound to start the 9th inning, Marlins fans were standing up and cheering for him. Baseball history is filled with great accomplishments and great moments, and I wish all baseball fans could be lucky enough to be in attendance for memorable moments in the history of the game.

Sorry, man. Hopefully the m.espn.com tip helped you overcome my 1 vote for another dude (I voted for you in a second browser).

Quite the sense of entitlement you have there, no one is required to vote for you. You selected a story about a division rival whose incredibly obnoxious fans descend upon us several times a year. I presume you either thick skinned or have not attended these games.

I also find it pathetic that the franchise was unable to produce a single memorable moment you would deem worthy to write about.

Frankly I do not care what Marlins or Phillies fans do, they are irrelevant.

Strasburg's debut was better for the sport.

But he wasn't there for that... does TV count to him?

come off it with the self-righteousness already.

A perfect game is a once in a lifetime thing to be present for.

I don't care what team it is, it's a memory worth writing about.

you act like he wrote about some random game where nothing historically relevant happened.

I couldn't write about the Phillies unless I could sneak in something crappy about the pederast they have at second.

You're being a little harsh with this guy. Nationals fans don't need more discouragement then they get watching their team. :)
