2010 Dunn .379 wOBA
2010 LaRoche .339 wOBA

Like I said they don't even compare.

No one is saying that they're equal offensively. What I'm hearing is that while Dunn + Hammer > Werth + LaRoche offensively, Dunn + Hammer <<< Werth + LaRoche defensively.

I don't know how it's calculated... all I know is Dunn killed LaRoche in wRAA (wOBA translated into runs, I believe) (30.2 - 5.4) or something crazy like that.

wOBA
Dunn .379
LaRoche .339

wRAA
Dunn 30.2
LaRoche 5.4

wRC
Dunn 139
LaRoche 107

I forgot what it all means... but, I do know that it's not a fair fight.

wRAA is translated into runs above average from wOBA. wRC is the same idea, except on an OPS+ scale (100 is average).

EDIT: Sorry, I was thinking of wRC+ (which is also park adjusted). Regular wRC is just total runs created from wOBA.

It needs to be factored in that the odds of Willingham staying injury free are basically non-existent.

I think if you take everything into account then Werth+LaRoche could equal out in WAR to Dunn+Hammer, but it won't be comparable as Dunn and Willingham will likely be able to put up better WAR in the AL by not playing defense as often and by being able to play more games and rest sore body parts by DHing. I would have prefered the team to keep Dunn, but they didn't and I don't like to harp on things.

They picked up Kevin Gregg. I would consider him the same type of closer as Mike Gonzalez. Meaning he is more likely to close the game with a walk-off win for the opposing team.

Gregg's contract has a vesting option that could take it to 3 yrs and 16-20 million.

Orioles suck so bad.

Just stop it.  You've gone way too far.

Numbers can lie.  Kevin Gregg SUCKS as a closer.

Actually, depending on which numbers you use, Gregg is really unspectacular as a closer.  WHIP and ERA+ aren't very good.

:lmao:  I had totally forgotten about that. There was something about Cabrera that hammonds was attracted to.

The sun is reporting the contract as a 1yr/$2.6 million deal.  Aside from me being a huge lifelong D-Cab fan, I'm really liking this deal for the Nats.  Not that big of a risk, with potential of a very high reward.
