We've got one immediately after the ASG :?

But the team may be well rested so it may not harm us.

My friend brought her puppy over and it was total chaos here, but I got to see all the runs score. That was outstanding.

Stephen Strasburg and Matt Cain are both on my fantasy team.

They canceled each other out :(

You couldn't see that coming and bench one of them?

Nieves is a great interview. Man, he's so likable. I kinda get what the FO says about him.

Strasburg is pretty much the ultimate teammate. What a guy. He only wanted to talk about how well the guys played.

Remember when people thought drafting Storen was a cheap move?

I did see it coming ... after the first inning.
I only visit my fantasy league once every three or four days.

great game to be at. really enjoyed myself tonight, for obvious reasons. strasburg looked great for the most part and the offense lit it up.

one question though: can someone explain why they brought storen in during the 7th with 2 outs? did it have something to do with the hitting match-ups?

In case anyone was wondering...it was a great night to be at the ball park and an even better night to be on the Red Porch, Dunn's double hit two seats to my left and the Home Run went up into the lounge seats....
You guys realize that until this week, only Zimmerman had been hitting it up into the Red Seats, Dunn usually hits them into the right field seats.....

I didn't see anyone discussing this... but it looks like Strasburg saved his own butt tonight.

Quote
The next three batters also made solid contact, each lining the ball to an outfielder, and Strasburg needed 17 pitches to get out of the first, including nine balls.

"After that, I was like, 'You know what? Bottom line, if they're going to beat me, they're going to beat me [with] me calling my own game,'" said Strasburg, who turns 22 on July 20. "I was just putting it all on my shoulders, and I have to do that from now on."

I noted the remark during his presser, but I wasn't going to be the one to bring it up.  I think it's possible he didn't mean it the way it sounds.  In fact I would bet on it.

Either that, or he has even less faith in Nieves than we do.

He went on and on, and I think he meant McCatty or Pudge, he was talking about prior starts, where I questioned the pitch selection as well. Throw the darn fastball!

George Will would call what Stras said a gaffe.  A gaffe in Washington is when someone says the truth and others say "you can't say that."

Great night to be at the ballpark but a lousy ride home on Metro.  mistake to go Blue line.

Do you realize that the pitching staff only went 5 batters over the minimum.  They all were impressive, including Peralta.  Nice to have a mop up guy who does not bring a can of gasoline in with him.

Also, Willie seems to have picked it up since he made that "I'm ahead of last year" comment.  SSS, but maybe going forward he can be the .350 OBP / .400 SLG guy he's been against righties for the past 3 years.  Perhaps he's gotten used to go back to  his bench role / spot starter.

He said he had talked to McCatty and his college pitching coach after his last start. He also talked about how he never did anything in college but throw the pitch that was called from the bench. With Tony Gwynn just being in town, I'd say the Gwynn told Strasburg that if he wanted to become a great pitcher, he was going to have to take control of the pitch selection. Quite simply put, if Strasburg doesn't call his own game, he'll never be better than whoever it is that is catching that day.
