Why hasn't he received the cy young award yet?

He's not getting a Cy Young.  But what about comeback player of the year?

My favorite National ever.  Anyone who doesn't love Livo has no appreciation for style; the guy has cool to burn.  Anyone planning on a rotation next year without him needs their head examined.

There is exactly one starting pitcher in the entire organization better than he is right now when you take all things into consideration.  There are some others with better stuff or more potential perhaps.  But not one, other than Strasburg, that I'd rather put my money on.  And unlike even SS, you can count on him every 5 days...none of these nagging injuries or tweaks, and he doesn't need to have his arm babied.  Plus he's a leader in the clubhouse and a mentor to our young pitchers.

On top of that, I have an affinity for the rotund (being a bit so myself) and love to see an older, pudgy guy embarrass some young, 5 tool, super athlete (probably with entourage in tow) with his savvy and experience.

Sign Dunn for next year asap...then sign Livo right behind him.

Stephen Strasburg already prematurely received his 15 Cy Youngs. He doesn't have enough disposable awards yet to give to Livan.

I saw one of those Strasburg T-shirts a couple days ago here in Boerne, TX.

I went to Cooperstown on Fathers Day and saw a bunch of folks wearing Strasburg t-shirts and a kid wearing a Strasburg Sky Chiefs jersey.

Most of the memorabilia stores in the village were completely sold out of the Strasburg t-shirts.  One place only had XXXL's left.

Modell's has the Strasburg Majestic tee shirts in red and in blue for $18, cheaper than the ballpark.

+1. Give Livo a raise, just because he deserves it.

Livo is my favorite National. How can you not root for the fat guy that just keeps on going out there? That being said, I would love to see him made a coach next year.

I love him too.  I missed his first stint as I wasn't a baseball fan at the time, but I've loved his time back, especially this year.

Livan recognized by BP:

Colin Wyers and the data team have been talking at length this week about forecasting player performance, while noting big hits and big misses and the underlying reasons why—remarkable skill sets, for example, or injuries. Sometimes there's also just the simple matter of opportunity and living up to or surpassing best-case projections. But whatever the root reason why, there are going to be a few surprising outcomes and surprising heroes on any ballclub.

Using WARP as the basis for comparison, let's take a quick romp through the 30 teams to identify the individual players who far exceeded their PECOTA-generated expectations and deserve a shout out for their remarkable campaigns.

Quote
Nationals: RHP Livan Hernandez, +3.5 WARP. It seemed as if the career of the human pitching machine had almost run its course by the end of 2008, but just as he managed a great first few months with Mets in 2009 to put the lie to that, he topped it with a full-season inning-munching feast with the Nats. Whether defying expectations he'd break down under the workloads of a decade ago, or predictions that he's done, it's reliably fun to see the man still Livan large.

When Livo is on, there's nothing more fun that watching hitters slam their bats in disgust when they pop up one of his 65 MPH curveballs.

How long after you flip the switch is it before the light actually comes on?
