Well, you could hear somebody in the background of the press conference informing Riggleman and the press that apparently they saw enough in Marquis exam that they wanted a second opinion from Kremchek. Not a good development. Might well explain the suckitude.

I think that's a red flag right there. When a player tells you they are sore, they're probably hurt pretty good.

This training staff is a joke. When a player tells you he's sore... you don't let him go out there for two more starts to get absolutely lit up.

Unbelievable.

If it's TJ surgery then that's $15 million COMPLETELY down the drain. Should have been $15 million over THREE years.

Never a good thing. Marquis will be placed on the 15-disabled list either Wednesday or Thursday and will get a second opinion on the elbow later this week. He's 0-3 with a 20.52 ERA in his first three starts in a Nationals uniform. There's a good chance he could be out for a while.

What does this mean? Injuries happen. The only "pop" injury seems to be Ryan Zimmerman. Pulled muscles happen, and, luckily for the Nats, they have a lot of infielders.

Otherwise:

- Olsen was at risk to begin with. This seems to be his trial: if he pitches, great. If not, he's another Patterson. The team moves on.

- Wang is another Olsen...just building strength to get that trial.

- Marquis and the elbow? Again, that's what happens to pitchers. They clean out the elbow and see. However, the kid, Atilano, has to be an improvement over what Marquis has been.

He said something about pain ten days ago.

Then he goes out and has another decidedly unlike-Marquis-in-April start.

I seriously doubt it's Tommy John. He'd go straight to Dr. Andrews if that was the case.
