I'm so sick of dibble and carpenter talking about the umps. On the one hand the game has been called incredibly one-sided, on the other, its because the umps are being evaluated and that's the reason?!
Smokes I agree with you about Dibbs/Carpenter.  Carpenter is a puss anyways

Just move to an electronic zone. They need a consistent zone, not one that fluctuates from game to game and pitch to pitch.

A band-aid has been put on this gaping wound of a game.

That's true but all 5 runs that inning still came with one out.
Right, but instead of two outs and a runner on second, you've got only one with two on.  It changes the whole approach and when you've got a team as good as Philly, you can't give them any extra outs.  They pounce as well as any team in a long time.  Now you've got Marquis frustrated and you've got Pudge frustrated and you lose your focus to a guy like Chase Utley for just a moment and you're cooked.  Pudge either makes a good throw and he probably has a chance to turn two or if he'd have just made the easy play to 1st and the distractions are minimized.

I understand the calls were garbage but Marquis has to keep his composure out there, he just totally imploded. Maybe pudge could've gone to the mound a couple times but sheesh 5 runs like that, he gets paid the big bucks for a reason. I like the guy and I'm not trying to trash him, but he's better than that.

The Phils just have a deadly lineup...and Marquis is a pitcher that needs a big strike zone.

Similar location called a strike for Hamels, but a ball for our pitchers.

Agree, again I didn't see the error but I assume Pudge either made a crap throw to 1st. Still he's got to settle down and pitch, he's better than that.

I didn't either actually, but the way it was described on the radio, it sounded like it was a bad throw.  Errors are gonna happen, it's just about minimizing the damage and not making them at the crucial point in the game.  That's not what happened in this case.

I can't believe it.

Phils can thank major league baseball and today's umpiring crew for the "gift-wrapped" win.

The Phillies would score runs in a spot like this.

Not excited by a Bernadina or Gonzalez pinch hit.

I'd love to see them pinch hit Zim here, but I don't see that happening...

I already have a beef with Target Field: they have an overhang at RF just like Citi Field.  It's even worse at Target Field because it's light-beige limestone.  It'll be really hard to determine whether a ball is hit off of it or not.

Nats only have three guys that are hitting (Willingham, Pudge and Guzman).  They need either Dunn or Zimm to get it going soon.

If you told me that preseason I'd say we'd be at best 1-5 right now.
