watching athletics-orioles game ... corey patterson is playing against his brother eric.  amber theoharis is doing an interview with their mom ... the first question should be: how does it feel to have two mediocre sons in MLB.

Emilio Bonifacio is batting .290 at AAA New Orleans. Bet we wish we had him instead of Josh Willingham and Scott Olsen, eh? ;)

Paul lo Duca was released.  Which brought to mind the question: "Paul Lo Duca was on a MLB roster?"

Does he now hold the record for most DFAs?

I shudder at the fact that with him being DFA'd he now has a chance of ending back up in the Nats system.

Stay far away Rizzo, far, far, away.

No way, Rizzo is too smart for that and our pen is set so far.

Dave Cameron weighs in on "What we learned in May."  He obviously thinks Austin Kearns still plays for the Nats because, you know, he writes for Fangraphs and criticizes him.

Quote
April hitting “breakouts” aren’t real.

We knew this already, but 2010 drove home the point repeatedly, as the first month of the season saw a lot of unexpected players performing extremely well, only to come crashing back to earth in May. Examples ahoy:

Kelly Johnson: .479 wOBA in April, .347 wOBA in May
Jose Guillen: .402 wOBA in April, .305 wOBA in May
Austin Kearns: .465 wOBA in April, .307 wOBA in May
Vernon Wells: .469 wOBA in April, .353 wOBA in May
Alex Gonzalez: .404 wOBA in April, .305 wOBA in May

These guys were heros in April, but their track records didn’t support that kind of performance, and sure enough, all of them got eaten alive by the regression monster. Even bad players can play well for a month – in general, it doesn’t mean anything.

Doesn't care for Jose Guillen, either.

stop crying because someone had the nerve to not worship fangraphs unconditionally.

do you write for them or something?

Crying?  whatever.  There's a running thread / meme about Fangraphs, and I was making a joke.  I don't write for them.  Lighten up.
