yeah.  what's funny is mcdonald struggled in the lower levels of the minors ... but they kept moving him up.  he had a cup of coffee for the o's - i thought they should've given him a much longer leash than they did - then pretty much gave up on him (he got hurt here and there and he wasn't producing).  Then he left the system and just absolutely raked in the minors (for the reds, twins, nats organizations).  Good to see him land on for the Sox for the time being and I wish him the best of luck.

Very interesting parallels you alluded to.  And yeah I hope Hood is developed better.  Which means fighting temptation to move him up.

Doug Harris's quotes about the new philosophy in the farm should give us hope.

Is that the one about bringing them along slowly at the lower levels?

Darnell is an older Destin Hood's father.
not quite as true, but perhaps closer in spirit.

Exactly.  Captain Leatherpants would've sent Hood to Potomac to start this year.

Former Nat Jon Rauch just blew a save when former Nat Jose Guillen hit a RBI double.

Former Nat Jon Rauch pitches the next inning after the Twins go up 9-7 and gets the win, after blowing the save.

You make a good point.  The Twins are probably the most respectable organization in baseball.  Great team, great system, and a program to connect the team with their fan base that rivals any in baseball.  I respect the team more than any other opponent.  I say I "hate the Twins" out of frustration over the White Sox' current situation, and Minnesota's current success.

Their fans tend to be a bit insufferable.  A lot of "chip on the shoulder," "David and Goliath" attitude.  They hate the White Sox more than any other team they face.  Seeing the Sox don't have a lot of history of dominance over the Twins, my guess is it simply stems from a "hate the big city" syndrome.

A lot of us hate the Nats' rivals for similar reasons, so you're gonna have to get used to it.

Oh, I totally understood when I saw who made the post.  As Knorr said, Nats fans have similar hatreds, all fan bases do, really.

Milledge with an AWE-INSPIRING .583 OPS thus far in the season. .277 OBP.

Hanrahan with a SUPER-LOW 15.75 ERA in the 4 innings he's worked this year. I think he is/was hurt. of the 20 runs the Brewers scored on the pirates the other day, GasCanrahan gave up 6.

I know, extra small sample sizes.

Hanrahan has rocks in his head. He might be a super nice guy, but he just strikes me as a thrower.

I remember when those Pirates fans came over here and ranted on us, blaming Hanrahan's suckitude on our defense, and saying how Milledge was gonna be awesome and we were stupid for trading him, and saying that they completely schooled us in that trade and we didn't know anything about baseball and stuff.

I wonder when those guys will be back.

Mike Bacsik's drunken tweets are slowly making the rounds on sporting blogs. Hasn't picked up much steam yet, but it might. It is looking more and more like it was the real thing.

EDIT: He just posted an apology. Go get him Tomterp-Spelling Nazi ;) :

He'll probably just start autographing Speedy Gonzales merchandise after another five minutes of fame.

Book him on George Lopez:

I guess this means he's fired from Cold Pizza/First Take/ESPN Morning Gibberish? Two viewers in Branson, MO are really sad.
