Matt Thornton and Tyler Flowers.EDIT: If that doesn't work then a package of Ramon Castro and Dan Hudson would do just fine as well.
NatsAddict hasn't signed on since May 30.I miss him.
Yeah, we need the inside scoop from our resident Marlins analyst.
The same Carmona who came in to today's game with a 6-5, 3.31 ERA, 1.22 WHIP?Yeah, he totally sucks.
The Astros' shortstop, Tommy Manzella, broke his finger and is out for six weeks. This leaves the Astros basically without an infield (new SS is Oswaldo Navarro, the 2B is Jeff Keppinger). So ... send them Guzman as part of the Oswalt package.
Fausto Carmona, who had a three-hit, complete game against us a couple of weeks ago, is SHOCKINGLY (NOT!) being assaulted in Philadelphia, 5-hits, 4-ER, so far, after 2.
I'd do the second deal in a heart beat. Seriously?
From a Sox fan perspective, I would jump for joy. From a Nats fan perspective, I would wonder if Bowden snuck back into the building.
Why would the Astros want an SS on a 1 yr deal who kinda sucks when they're not even contention? That's a bit stupid even for Drayton McLane.
This is why Espinosa would be a huge part of a deal with them.
A power hitting backup catcher and a right-handed starter who is 23 and in his 2nd full year is cruising at AAA with a 1.24 WHIP and 92 Ks in 76.1 IP is something that would make you jump for joy for a half year rental? Okay, give me that deal.
No one, not even Jim Hendry, would do that deal for a half year rental. I just assumed that was understood.
They would have no guarantee of re-signing Dunn until he gets there. I'm not sure of their salary issues, but I'd be willing to tell Dunn we'll come after him again once the season is over and hope he really enjoyed it here. If not, we fix the backup catcher spot, add a potential #2 SP who is already at AAA, and open up more room to go after someone like Crawford or Werth and add a short term 1B replacement like Cantu, Glaus, Huff or even steal Konerko as he's a FA at the end of the year.If the White Sox would do that for Dunn, just to get a lefty power bat, knowing they've got both him and Konerko slated for FA at the end of the year, I'd send him for either of those two player deals.
