Link?

It's a rather long blog, but here is series of the quotes following the Marlins new "pick off" move, which is to in a single motion jump, spin, and toss the ball into the RF corner, and the link:

Quote
9:41 Juan Rodriguez:
Are you kidding me?

9:41 Lindsay:
Like I said, it's a re-run of opening day

9:41 Juan Rodriguez:
Pitchers have committed three errors in four games.

9:42 tps:
Losing stinks, but bad baseball is inexcusable, you just cant fix stupid

9:43 Juan Rodriguez:
I have to write up some of this garbage. I'll check back in a few.
Sun-Sentinel

On Wednesday, the pen came in and walked 6 out of 12, hit a 7th, balked in a run, and then ended the inning on a wild pitch which Baker rebounded off the wall and threw the guy (Tatis?) out at the plate.  The Mets scored 5 off the pen without having a run-scoring hit.

As soon as the article is posted, I'll post it as well.

Also, if you read the blog, you'll see the fans telling Juan the scores of other games.  That's because the new stadium owner, rather than replacing a few burned out light bulbs, removed the out of town scoreboard and replace it with ads.  Can't believe Selig/MLB agreed to this extreme hideousness - it's even bad by Selig standards.  The old and the new LF wall at, let's see, it's a Friday so it's Sun Life Stadium today:

The Old:

The extremely tacky new:

Holy crap what a great play by Arod to save the no-no.

Teixeira had one last inning as well.

Mike Leake pitches 108 in his MLB/pro debut. Looks like Dusty Baker is going to overwork another talented young pitcher. In the seventh inning Leake looked exhausted, walking two guys, the second one on a wild pitch.

Leake's line is nothing to sneeze at. 6.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 7 BB, 5 K. But I bet Dusty Baker makes sure he's not pitching like that for long.

7 BB's and 5 K's will drive up a pitch count.

Arizona scored 13 in the 4th, including a 2-run homer by the starting pitcher!

The starter, Edwin Jackson, actually had TWO hits in the inning!

And the Brewers win anyway so Hoffman blows the save but gets the win.

And that's why baseball scoring sucks sometimes.

Why do they always let him do this? The guy just ruins young arm after young arm.

Chapman is screwed
Quote
"I doubt they even had a pitch count" in Cuba, Baker said. "That's very important. Sometimes you can under-pitch a guy if he's used to throwing.

Every time I think of Dusty, I think of this gem

Quote
"I think walks are overrated unless you can run... If you get a walk and put the pitcher in a stretch, that helps. But the guy who walks and can't run, most of the time they're clogging up the bases for somebody who can run."

He would've hated Dunn :P

Oh wait, they were both with Cinci for part of 2008 weren't they?  I wonder how those conversations went.

 I know it's not the exact same situation but all we heard about Dice-K was how durable his arm was and how many innnings they pitched in Japan, now look at the trouble he's had the last couple years.

I'm not sure the structure of Cuba baseball but with any investment in a young pitcher with such upside, conventional wisdom has it that you should monitor his innings and shut him down after a certain amount like we are doing with Stras. I guarntee Baker taxes his arm this year, hopefully he can hold up and doesn't break down like others have in the past.

i watched a bit of the Marlins game tonight on MLB, there couldn't have been more than 2k fans in that stadium.  Someone explain to me why a team with that much talent draws absolute flies?

Dear Loria,

Please arrange a tour bus for WNFF.  We will at least double your attendance figures.

sincerely,

That's a big reason why, according to NatsAddict.  He described at length how the stadium is not only in a bad location, but it's far from the best place to take in a baseball game.  I've always read bad things about Joe Robbie (I'm going to start calling it that since they change the name every frickin week).
