Have we figured out what Morse did to Riggleman's daughter yet? The hate against him is ridiculous.

I'll take it.

Bernie has been good, but he's not really the kind of hitter you want in a corner OF spot.  That's where you keep your guys that aren't the greatest in the field, but have some pop with the bat, like hammer or Morse.  CF is where you put someone that has sparkling defense and speed/range, can swipe a few bags, and spray hits.  Someone like Bernadina.

With Morgan in a slump, and Morse swinging a hot bat, why not have Bernadina slide to CF to make room for Morse in RF.  I don't get it.

He should want the offense behind SS after tonight.

Exactly.  Strasburg needs a lot less defense than our other pitchers do.  We should heavy up the offense for him, since he takes care of half the opponents via strikeout, minimizing the need to play good d.

Huh. In a way a better D would have helped yesterday, but unless you put Alberto at 2nd, I'm not sure anything would have changed. But Morse could have helped for sure.

That's actually a really good deal for both teams.  Nyjer is better than any combination of Maier/Ankiel they can trot out in CF.

DeJesus would be an amazing fit here (you imagine him as the #2 hitter with zim/dunn/willingham/pudge :az:).  The Royals are asking for the moon for his services (which can be expected).

It'd be even cooler if we kept him and got Werth/Crawford. Who bats lead off if we acquired DeJesus and we sent Morgan over there? Guz?

Ah, true. Now an even more hypothetical question: What if we acquired Werth and kept DeJesus? Acquired Crawford?

freak me. We better sign one of those guys next year... I want a better offense. One or two more pieces and we should be fan-freaking-tastic.

Actually, it might be DeJesus.

Very possible, but I think I'd prefer him batting second if Roger will really focus on trying to drag out the first at bat.

Huh.

Is that just a grunt, or was it really a "Huh?"

If Stras strikes out say 1/2 of the batters he faces, then he only needs team defense for the other 1/2, whereas Livan needs defense for almost every batter.  Therefore, a good strikeout pitcher is less dependent on D, and we should adjust our lineups towards an offense bias when Stras starts.  Unless, you are content with the scoring we've been putting up lately....    :-[

Last night on MLB network Peter Gammons was saying that the Dodgers have given up on Matt Kemp and want to improve defensively in center field. Nyjer for Kemp might give both teams what they want.

I don't want Kemp or B.J. Upton. These guys are loafing for teams that are in the middle of the hunt. We've already had a FLop we don't need another malcontent.

I don't think Kemp's problem is that he is loafing. He is a corner outfielder that got a late start in baseball and is playing out of position. He seems to have a bit of a fragile ego and needs to be out of the limelight. With the Stephen Strasburg show our right field might be the perfect place for him.

I'm really, really down on these so called athletic types. They never seem to fully develop. I'm not just talking about Morgan or Kemp but go back and look at your Bo Jacksons, Reggie Sanders and Deion Sanders. These guys were all great athletes but not great ballplayers.
