I assume they return the Boxter with rose petals on the seats and an iced bottle of Dom in the boot.

Could be I'm looking in the wrong boot.

That's what ASSCLOWN said.

I like saying "boot" and "bonnet" and "lorry" and "petrol" and "saloon" etc.  Too much Top Gear.

It looks kind of like a Skoda.  Do you know where it was designed?  The Focus was a big seller in Europe before it was released here.

The 2012 Ford Focus looks like a sleek new competitor in the C segment.

I'm not sure, but it is a global model this time.  No more awesome Focus for everyone else and monstrosity for the US.

V6 in a C Segment?  No thanks.  I am hoping for a hotted up version in an ST or SVT with something like a 2.0 EcoBoost.  A V6 would be too thirsty and most likely heavy enough to screw with the driving dynamics.  A turbo'd I4 with around 200 hp and 200 lb-ft should be plenty quick and plenty fun.

There are smaller cars out there with bigger engines that are better drives, I don't think it would screw with anything

Examples?  The difference would be that those cars were designed for a bigger engine and tuned accordingly.  For instance I've read review on the Audi A3 where the 2.0t is the better handling car when compared to the 3.2 V6 model.

I think a V6 in a compact economy car is overkill anyway.

BMW 125i

I was just hoping to ford would make a compact coupe that wasn't necessarily economy

That's a RWD car though.  I think when you are talking FWD the effects of a heavier V6 vs an I4 are much more pronounced.

There was talk about bringing a Capri to the US.  That could be cool.

What is wrong with a Focus ST or RS?  300 HP not enough?

Just as long as it comes in another color

Any Saab fans here?  Looks like GM won't be killing it off after all, they came to a deal with Spyker today to sell Saab.

That's different than say 10 miles to blue's house. And they own the new Porsches, that's different insurance, I would think.

They have to insure someone to drive other people's porsche's presumably all around the DC area. Wow. Isn't there a Naughty By Nature song about that?

They would probably not be insuring for collision damage, only for liability.

Because in europe, even C and B segment cars have typically upscale features.  The thought was that Americans wouldn't pay good money for a small car.  Small car = cheap car.  Upscale small cars like the Mini and the success they have must be finally sinking in.

Just because I don't need or want a big car or an SUV doesn't mean I want a crapbox.

Halfsmokes, Chief, or Dunnkey, whatever you prefer, respectfully requests that multiple photographs not be quoted, as they significantly slow down page loading times.

I know, we all do it at times, but just saying.

I totally agree with that, I really don't like driving big cars, but I still want performance

I rented an Opel Vectra V6 wagon in Germany a number of years back, which I loved (despirte being a wagon)...you'd still see the odd Benz rushing up in the rear view despite sitting pedal-to-metal in the left lane on the Autobahn, but overall a pretty adequately powered beast for that body type, and a pleasure to drive.  Couldn't believe my eyes when my MIL bought a Saturn wagon the very next year which was the exact same car, but made in Tennessee instead of Stuttgart.  Saturn seems to have been the only marque that didn't crap down the European models for the U.S. market.

Saturn was to become the US version of Opel until GM killed it off.

The Saturn Astra was a decent car with absolutely NO marketing.  I never once saw a commercial advertising it.

Just remove the img tags and/or link when quoting.  I can't do anything about it for now, but I'll look into possible mods to achieve the same result when I'm at a real computer.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/26/AR2010012603492.html?hpid=topnews

Quote
Toyota took the extraordinary step Tuesday of suspending the manufacture and sale of eight of its most popular models because of an unresolved mechanical flaw that might cause the accelerator to get perilously stuck in the depressed position.

The move comes after two massive recalls involving millions of vehicles with either the same flaw or one in which floor mats also caused the accelerator to get stuck.

The Japanese carmaker told its dealers to temporarily stop selling the RAV4, Highlander and Sequoia sport-utility vehicles; Corolla, Camry and Avalon cars; Matrix hatchbacks; and Tundra pickups ...

Krebs said the eight models represent 65 percent of sales of the Toyota brand and more than half of sales of the parent company, which also makes Lexus and Scion.

so much for a reputation for quality, can't wait for the rellacunch, 2011 Camry- now without the manslaughter

It's ridiculous.  At least Toyota is admitting the fault now instead of blaming it on the floormats.

That's what happens when you have cars built in North America using North American parts :stir:
