Figured I'd jump out of my hot-stove infrequent lurking mode since I was thrilled when the team signed Storen and thought of several questions (some already asked) that I'm curious about the past couple of days.
JCA-CrystalCity asked a similar question, but not addressing remotely the same area despite the same topic, so hopefully this question doesn't get overlooked for that reason:
Since you've been with the team, playing in the minors, fall league and this off-season, would you say strength and conditioning, proper mechanics and other measures have been strongly emphasized/what you would have expected at the major league level out of college? It seems we have had higher than average number of young, talented pitchers who fall to injuries in their first season that seem like they could/should have been preventable; Jordan Zimmermann being the most recent example among several.
Have you talked with/gotten any tips from other major league closers after you signed with the Nats? On that same note, Chad Cordero is really the only other person to really know what's ahead for you. While he came up to the Majors in Montreal, he's still the only dedicated closer we've had who also knows what it's like to be a young, talented star closer in DC, pitching at Nat's Park, dealing with and closing in front of DC baseball fans, etc. Did he by chance give you a call after you signed with the team?
and/or
Have you gotten any advice from any of the Nat's major league pitching staff since you signed with the team?
