For those going today: Yahoo! Weather predicts 30% chance of rain, 'a few showers'.

I'd love a series win... but realistically we just got our one good Olsen start per month and Lowe can be a powerhouse at times.

I'll be on today.  Not sure for how long.  Taking the kids to the ValleyCats (Astros) v. Cyclones (Mets) NYPenn League game tonight.  5:00 p.m. scheduled start and kids play catch with the players before the game starts.

Haven't we done pretty well against Lowe this year?

Derek Lowe went 1-3 with a 6.54 ERA in June after having sub-4.00 ERAs in the months of April and May.

Lowe however owns the Nats and always has.

Career numbers against him:
Guzman - 9/26 (.346) Double, 4 Ks
Hernandez - 0/2 (.000) Walk
Gonzalez - 0/3 (.000)
Morgan - 3/6 (.500)
Willingham - 3/11 (.273) 2 HRs, 2 Walks, 1 K
Belliard - 2/11 (.182) 1 Double, 1 Walk, 4 Ks
Dunn - 1/16 (.063) 2 Walks, 5 Ks
Kearns - 2/17 (.118) 1 HR, 1 Walk, 4 Ks
Bard - 3/21 (.143) 1 HR, 3 Walks, 2 Ks
Zimmerman - 5/23 (.217) 1 Double, 1 HR, 1 Walk, 9 Ks
Johnson - 6/24 (.250) 1 HR, 2 Walks, 4 Ks
Harris - 5/25 (.200) 1 Double, 0 Walks, 2 Ks.
---------------------------------------------
39/185 (.211) with 4 Doubles, 6 HRs, 13 BBs, 35 Ks.

we defeated him on April 20th at Nats Park: 6 IP 7 H 3 R 3 ER 3 BB 2 K (Loss). JZ pitched well and we won the game 3-2 on a Game-Winning RBI Single by Jesus Flores in the bottom of the 6th inning.

He's 1-1 against us with a 4.00 ERA in 2 games this year.  I wouldn't exactly call that ownage.  He was yanked early in one game, I forget why, but we scored 3 off of him in 6.0 IP in the other game.  Again, hardly dominating.

Since the Nationals returned to D.C. in '05 here are Lowe's numbers against this team:

50 IP 40 H 15 R 15 ER HR 12 BB 39 K (5-2, 2.70 ERA, 1.04 WHIP)

I fail to see how that's relevant.  I didn't know he was pitching against the 05-08 Nationals All-star roster today.

He loves pitching against this team though. And look at the career hitting numbers by the offense against him. Barely batting over .200 as a team against him. This looks like a day to get some of the back-ups in there.

You would be a terrible manager.

in one of the games, i think it was early in the year in atlanta, we had martis vs. lowe, and both were getting hit semi-hard early on before a rain delay

It'll be interesting to see if Morgan can get his first hit as a National.  I'm surprised SF didn't specifically point out Dunn's career vs Lowe

Oh yeah, I remember now.  All I could remember was that we were all glad he got pulled, but I forgot why.

What is with Acta's obsession with Ronnie Belliard? Isn't Gonzalez also part of his amigos crew? I bet the Lerners forced him to start Belliard because they didn't want to lose out on their investment.

I hope next year, MLB.tv considers airing pre-game and post-game stuff.  I can't stand that we don't get the press conferences and the pre-game material.
