i agree he hasn't been as great as a lot of us thought, but those guys are here in the first place because of bowden.
who gives a crap? I'm talking about NOW, the present. What is Rizzo doing to fix this situation? He has arguably only made our bullpen worse by acquiring horrible bums like Kensing, Tavarez, and Wells.this is unacceptable. Our offense is outstanding. With decent relief pitching we'd easily be .500 right now. makes me sick. today's game should have been a cold stone lock win TWICE and they blew it. Mock was nearly the worst of all. he's just gross.
Still haven't had a date?
Getting a decent reliever in a trade is a pipe dream. Let it go...
hahahahaha dude he's stuck in this situation. and what trading chips do we have? if we get rid of johnson, our offense falls off and you'd be screaming at rizzo why we have brad eldred/kory casto playing over there. bowden picked up those guys and i'm sure rizzo/manny don't want to be throwing them out there, but they have no choice. that's why they are picking up these guys with risk/reward opportunities like macdougal and villone ... maybe they can come in.i do agree though, tyler clippard should be up now. jesus colome will be up in a couple weeks.
wtf? The Marlins got Leo Nunez for Mike Jacobs. NJ > Mike Jacobs. Leo Nunez > all of the Nats relieversSomeone like a Rauch would be great (except not Rauch since he has gone down the gutter in Arizona).
1 month of healthy play vs 2 injury riddled years. Nick Johnson will have to prove he can stay healthy before anyone gives up anything decent for him. I would say he needs at least another month before he gets serious interest from other teams.
i do agree that rizzo needs to stop worrying about "inventory" and start fixing the damn pen. but even so, i see sf once again ranting against the guys he doesnt like while absolving his boys of any blame.
I don't know what else they need to see. All of his past injuries have been of "freak" variety. He's drawing walks, hitting for a real high average, and playing good defense. He's one of the best overall 1B-man in the league. He's in the last year of his contract so it's doubtful he'll be here next year anyways. I really don't care how Rizzo improves the pen though. Doesn't have to be by trading NJ. explore other options besides scraping the bottom of the dumpster for other teams' cast-offs.
It doesn't matter if they were freak injuries or not, one month of good play isn't enough value. Rizzo has to do something, that is obvious, but it isn't an easy situation right now. They are dealing from a place of desperation, so they are likely to get fleeced on a trade deal. And then it isn't exactly like there is quality relievers just waiting to be signed. This was an issue that should have been addressed in the off-season and wasn't, there isn't many options at this point in the season.
this situation reminds me of when the zards got rid of eddie jordan and were like okay tapscott work your magic with this roster. (except i think eddie jordan has a tons of more skill at his job than bowden)
this team has far more talent than that wizards squad. look at the offense. wow. the relief pitching is just unacceptable. I am just stunned that every single guy out there is having a disastrous season. I could understand if 1-2 guys were having bad years but all of them?! it's ridiculous. Guys that used to be able to throw strikes (Tavarez, Rivera, Mock, etc) have lost all control whatsoever.
The idea that we should trade Nick Johnson for a reliever in order to salvage this season might be one of the funnier things posted here!Wait... that wasn't a joke? Oh. Well.
