I love Nationals Park...but Petco is just that 10% nicer in my book.  I sat in a no-vendors section, and it was great not having a beer man walk in front of me every other inning, I liked the way it opened out into the Gaslamp Quarter (DC can only hope the ballpark district ends up half that nice), I liked the yellow color throughout, which really said "San Diego" to me.  I dunno...just seemed like they put a tiny bit more work into the park.  Yeah, there are some Camden Yards qualities to it (the Western Metal Building being the most obvious), but there's also a reason that people copy Camden qualities.
that kinda sounds like St. Louis.  It was a very good place to watch a game, but it seems to me like they could have made something that ended up being very good and it could have been exceptional.  Not NYY gaudy, but just a spectacular shrine to the game.  I can't put a finger on what's missing, but it's not quite what it could have been, IMO.  They setteled for very good when it could have been phenomenal.

Interesting.  From all the photos and video, the new Busch looks like an amazing park/skyline to me.  But obviously pictures don't always tell the whole story.

Oh, don't get me wrong, for most places, it'd be beyond a perfect facility and it is simply fantastic, but St. Louis is a different place.  Baseball is more there than it is in most places.  St. Louis shouldn't settle for 4 1/2 stars out of 5 or even 4 3/4 stars.  At a place like St. Louis, they should have a place that rates 5 1/2 stars and it doesn't, it's close, but it's just a bit short, IMO...

There should have been some architectural flourish at the new stadium that represented that huge radio mast the Cards had back in the day.  From what I've heard from old timers, sixty years ago, everyone from Brownsville to Carbondale was a Cardinals fan, essentially because they could listen to games on the radio.

considering showing up when we get to 99 losses. make make some kind of commemorative back to back 100 loss t-shirt and root for the other team. maybe splurge for some tickets behind the nats dugout

Saturday the 26th is likely my last game, unless I sell the tickets. The team has been so awful lately, my friends and family who usually join me have lost interest.

The final homestand of 2009:

Tuesday 22nd vs Dodgers - attend
Wednesday 23rd vs Dodgers - probably attend first period of Caps pre-season match then head out to the ballpark, unless it's raining (Yahoo! Weather says thunderstorms possible) in which case I'll just stick with the hockey
Thursday 24th vs Dodgers - miss (United conflict)
Friday 25th vs Braves - attend
Saturday 26th vs Braves - attend
Sunday 27th vs Braves - probably miss (this goes up against a Caps pre-season match at 12.00 and a United match at 15.00 which segue almost perfectly into each other)
Monday 28th vs Mets - attend
Tuesday 29th vs Mets - attend
Wednesday 30th vs Mets - attend, but will in all likelihood leave early for United match kicking off at 20.00

My 2 games a month streak has died, probably won't hit another game this season. Next season I think I'm getting a 20 game plan, we'll see.

We're going to the Dodgers games Tuesday and Wednesday. Chances are good we'll see loss #100. But Tuesday is our first non-Friday/Saturday game in ages, so we're definitely going to Max's. We also have tickets for the final home game next Wednesday.

My schedule.

Let me know if any want to meet up?  I'll be the Gimpy one!  I  usually eat behind the 300 sections at one of the picnic tables. PM me if you want my cell!  I have to know your moniker to give you my cell!

Max's rocks.  They probably do pretty well when both the Dodgers and Mets are in town.  Anyways, if you see some stupid looking guy in an Expos hat at any of those games eating a shawarma, say hi.

We're going to the Dodgers games Tuesday and Wednesday. Chances are good we'll see loss #100. But Tuesday is our first non-Friday/Saturday game in ages, so we're definitely going to Max's. We also have tickets for the final home game next Wednesday.
