Yeah. I think I may get GW2. I'm glad its F2P. I wish it had more classes though. The game sounds amazing though.

Debating on whether to buy Gods Eater Burst for my PSP.

no infrastructure, but it's supposedly like Monster Hunter.

it's either Gods Eater Burst, or MLB the Show for right now.

might buy Crimson Gem Saga as well.

it doesn't have online multiplayer, which sucks.

I dunno why these developers don't get it. their games won't be as popular in America without online play.

and by online play, i don't just mean adhoc party. not everyone that has a psp has a ps3 as well.

Elder Scrolls III and IV were single player only and both received multiple GOTY's and sold millions of copies.  Same for Mass Effect 1 and 2.  I get what you're saying and it's probably true for most games, but there is definitely a very strong market for in-depth single player experiences.

Red Dead Redemption had a good shot at winning. That single player is 10x better than its multiplayer (however multiplayer is still kinda fun). It would've been a great game either way without the MP though.

The music they play in the background is pretty damn awesome too. I felt like I was watching a movie.

oh I am not sure if that was directed at me, but if so i think you are confusing what I am saying Chief. i'm not talking about hoping a Single Player Game has MP in it.

I am talking about specifically the type of game that GEB is. and I am talking about the difference between Adhoc Multiplayer, and Online Multiplayer. It's a uniquely Portable Gaming thing.

God Eater is like Monster Hunter, and Phantasy Star Portable.  Sure it has a single player mode, but it's basically built for 4-player MultiPlayer. Hunting massive monsters with your friends and crap. Those games are insanely popular in Japan, because over there, they sit around with PSPs in cafes and such, and they play the game together in public over Adhoc connections. in Japan, you don't really need online, Adhoc is enough.

but the North American style of Multiplayer is based on Online play. and when they bring those games over here from japan, they continually fail to realize this. You won't see very many people sitting in a Starbucks, or some other place, playing the same game together on their PSPs or DSes, unless maybe playing Pokemon.  and thats why these wonderfully awesome Monster Hunting type games are not as popular in NA as they are in Japan. The culture is different, in regards to Multiplayer.

Americans like to play their Multiplayer Games over the Internet. These games would be vastly more popular and sell many more copies over here, if they would just stop being lazy and code an Online Multiplayer component into it.

Imagine if you could only play Battlefield 3 on your 360 in Split-Screen Multiplayer, and there was no Xbox Live play. You'll see what PSP owner go through with our more popular multiplayer games.

Thank god for Phantasy Star Portable, it's got Online. and as a result, though I did buy God Eater and I'll play it, I will end up playing Phantasy Star far more.

A Space Shooter has to be the greatest name of a game.

also, God Eater is the victim of the most pointless censorship I have ever seen.

every where else in the world, the name of the game is "God Eater Burst". the Characters who fight in the game, are called God Eaters, hence the title.

in America, it is "Gods Eater Burst". i have been playing this game for 2 hours now, and not once in any piece of dialogue is someone referred to as a "Gods Eater" it is ONLY in the title. everywhere else in the game, the S is not there.

thank you, easily offended evengelical jackasses, for the pointless additional S, just so your dumb asses won't think that the characters eat Grilled Jesus Sandwiches for lunch when you see the cover with the guy fighting the huge, clearly non-Jesus-looking monster on it.

I'm sure the evangelical crowd took time out of their schedule to picket a company that makes PSP games and demanded they changed the game's name to Gods.

Of course, it could be because the games name was changed in Japan to Gods Eater Burst, and thus that's why it's called that in America, as well... but that couldn't possible be it, now could it?

Quote
Gods Eater Burst is a 2010 action-adventure video game exclusively for the PlayStation Portable developed and published by Namco Bandai Games in Japan and published by D3Publisher, a sister company of Namco Bandai Games, in North America.[2] The game was originally released in Japan as God Eater (ゴッドイーター, Goddo Ītā?) on February 4, 2010 but was later improved and re-released as Gods Eater Burst (ゴッドイーター バースト, Goddo Ītā Bāsuto?) on October 28, 2010. Gods Eater Burst will be released in North America on March 15, 2011. The opening and ending theme songs for the game are "Over the Clouds" and "My Life", both of which are sung by Alan.[3]

Well crap. Those evangelical types must of picketed Japan four months before the American version came out just so the Japanese version would also get a name change!

They're so crafty, those evangelical types.

the change was made preemptively out of fear of backlash from the american evengelical crowd. cmon, don't be daft just to be contrary.

it is a stupid change, and I'm saying it is a stupid change. sue me.  not gonna affect my enjoyment of the game, but it is still stupid, and it was done for a stupid reason.

God Eater is a cool name. Gods Eater is just awkward.

So you're blaming the evangelical crowd for Japan changing the name of the game four months before it even came out stateside?

the name wasn't changed in Japan. your wikipedia article is just a little bit incorrect. the Japanese Version is God Eater Burst. the name change only applies to English Language versions.

in fact, the original Game was called God Eater. God Eater Burst, in Japan, was an Expansion. the American release is both he original game, and the Expansion together.

again, in Japan, it is God Eater. that never changed.

in America, Gods Eater. because the connotation of fighting "God" singular could somehow be offensive to someone and they might get mad, but "Gods" plural is fine.

eyeroll, laugh, whatever. I know what I am talking about.

and no, I am not saying they picketed or sued anything. I am saying the name was changed in the American release, out of fear that someone might.

and the game came out in America last Tuesday.

be as snarky as you like. I know I am correct, and my opinion on the stupidity of pandering to evangelicals who get their crap in a twist if some says God wrong won't change.

Mindfact much?

Way to blame a group of people that you have absolutely no proof ordered a change to a game they probably don't give two craps about.

Take off the tin foil hat... the conspiracy doesn't go that deep.

Of course, the blatant stereotyping of a religious group was nice, though.

who the hell said anything about them ordering any changes?

I said the name was changed in advance, because they didn't want to offend any evangelicals.  and they didn't bother to make that change anywhere else in the world.

how difficult is that to understand?

and if I am wrong, then why, exactly, is the game known as God Eater Burst, *everywhere else in the world*, but known as Gods Eater Burst here?

does someone have a US Patent on the term God Eater so they can't legally use it, maybe?
