so..you think Steam is better than Raptr?

or is it practical to run both at the same time?

I don't really know much about Steam as a community platform, I just use it as a glorified backup/download service for older games, and occasional "game of the year" edition purchase for games I didn't play in their heyday.

It's supposed to be pretty good though, from what I hear.  You can access the community and your friends from inside of any game you get via Steam, the interface has a keycombo and just pops up overlays on top of the game.  There's matchmaking for multiplayer and stuff too, though again I'm not familiar with exactly how it all works on a game-by-game basis.

I haven't even set up my public profile, but if you guys get on their just PM me your community names and I'll friend you.

I'll get it later when I get home from work.  I wonder if you can mod the Doom games though.  I really want to play classic doom in the doom 3 engine.

You can.  The downloaded game files are all the same aside from the main exe, at least from what I've seen.  Most Doom mods only need the .WAD files anyway.

Such a mod exists.  A co-worker just showed it to me a week or two ago.  It's cool from a technical standpoint, but I honestly prefer the original sprites/art.  Hence why I love the Skulltag mod.  I never thought Doom 3 was all that great, honestly.  Played about 2/3 of the way through the copy I pre-ordered after I got it, and have literally never played it since :?

Okay so apparently it's only the first episode (about 1/3 of the game):

I played Doom 3 co op over Xbox Live with a friend and it was pretty cool.  Really I just like the music I've heard for the Doom 1 remake on Doom 3 engine   E1M1 has a kick ass song.

I'm probably going to get my ass handed to me once I start playing real league games but so far I'm 11-3 in practice matches  :-[

You going to be around tonight?

Void Rays are so going to get nerfed.

They are so cheap. Once they attack a base, they are unstoppable.

The 2v2 group that I'm part of that rose to first in silver was promoted a few days ago to Gold and were automatically placed 3rd in the ladder. It seems we win one and lose one every time. Some good competition up there. Usually annoying rushers though.

I just downloaded a SNES emulator for my Droid with a bunch of games... its so awesome. Only problem is my phone is to small in comparison to a SNES controller. It's still badass though.

Shank is a lot of fun.

Same vein as Metal Slug, graphics and theme reminds me of the upcoming Robert Rodriguez movie, Machete.

Available on PS3, 360, PC.

Here's the trailer for it -

Cost 15 bucks... Tops out at 3 hours... but I think it was well worth the cost.

Looks like my SCII days are done for a while.

When I moved back into school (in apartments on campus - cmd knows what I mean (commons), I no longer could get into games. I can log onto battle.net just fine but when I matchmake or whatever it get players found! and then countdown and then it sits at zero...if/when i actually get into a game I lag unbelieveably and just have to quit.

Some searching tells me more people are having the issue with university internet. :(

Thank you Mark Cuban! I'm fairly sure IU was the first university if I remember correctly to have some variant of Cat 5 wired throughout the campus. It's an older version so they have to give you special cables but the internet speed for everyone in the dorms was nice, lots of online gaming and the LAN parties would be entire dorm floors competiting against one another. HALO was epic!

Is it bad that I get so angry over a cheap maneuver in a video game? Starcraft 2: Cannon Rushing/Proxy Rushing. Stupidest and cheapest tactic that seems it can't be stopped. I get so damn frustrated over this.

The 1.1 patch is supposed to help address this.  There are details of some of the changes in the patch on bnet website somewhere but I know one of them was increasing the build time on gateways, and maybe zealots too.

Here are the notes - http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/554901
