I heard Blob Wadson say yesterday on the radio show that the Nationals don't want Hernandez as their everyday 2B. Take that for what it's worth considering the source, but that really wouldn't surprise me.
That's not quite right, here's the comment (as transcribed and posted by Nats320):
Fan question: Is Anderson Hernandez the real deal at second base?
Ladson: I find it hard to believe that they (Washington) believe Hernandez will be the starting second baseman. Orlando Hudson may be in the works, but I don’t see Hernandez as the everyday second baseman.
So he implies that the Nats DO look at Hernandez as the starting SS, and the rest is all just HIS opinion, and we know what that is worth. Granted, they could still go after Hudson and that would obviously bump Hernandez, but if they don't get him Ladson seems to think the Nats have full confidence in Hernandez to be the everyday guy. True or not, his current play in the winter league would seem to support that he could do it.
Note: I was actually a little surprised when I actually heard Ladson for the first time last night, he definitely can talk better than he can write...
