Anderson Hernandez is owning the Dominican League
« on: December 12, 2008, 11:21:19 am »
He is 3rd in Batting average, behind Kendry Morales and Esteban German. He has a .361 BA
He is 1st in hits, with 60
He is 1st in doubles with 15
He is 1st in triples with 6

Is it possible that he is much better than we give him credit for? Maybe the FO knows more than we do.

The stats from the MLB site are more up to date.

Leonard Davis, Jorge Padilla, and Bill Rhinehart look impressive so far too.

I heard Blob Wadson say yesterday on the radio show that the Nationals don't want Hernandez as their everyday 2B.  Take that for what it's worth considering the source, but that really wouldn't surprise me.

i think Anderson would be an adequate starting 2b, but i'd prefer signing Hudson as our starting 2b. regardless, we OWNED the Mets in that trade.

*in a dream world we'd trade for Cano who is rumored to be on the market*

Who's dream is that? I'd take Hudson any day (but losing the picks will suck)

Anderson Hernandez .369 / 66 hits / 17 doubles / 1 home run / 27 K's / 12 BB's / OBP .404 / OPS .952
Bonifacio is batting a "mere" .292, by the way.

Also of note:
Justin Maxwell 6 HR in 24 games but only .200 avg

If Estaban German is up there, doesn't that invalidate the stats? Doesn't he suck?

That's not quite right, here's the comment (as transcribed and posted by Nats320):
Fan question:  Is Anderson Hernandez the real deal at second base?

Ladson:  I find it hard to believe that they (Washington) believe Hernandez will be the starting second baseman. Orlando Hudson may be in the works, but I don’t see Hernandez as the everyday second baseman.

So he implies that the Nats DO look at Hernandez as the starting SS, and the rest is all just HIS opinion, and we know what that is worth.  Granted, they could still go after Hudson and that would obviously bump Hernandez, but if they don't get him Ladson seems to think the Nats have full confidence in Hernandez to be the everyday guy.  True or not, his current play in the winter league would seem to support that he could do it.

Note:  I was actually a little surprised when I actually heard Ladson for the first time last night, he definitely can talk better than he can write...

You only lose 1 pick per Type-A free agent and the first 15 picks are protected.

Yeah, I know, I've been harping on that

I did not sleep much last night :D

Anyway, if we sign Dunn and Hudson we lost round 2 and round 3

Maxwell's secondary numbers are good. .369 OBP & .844 OPS. In Maxwell's case the playing time is more important than the numbers.
