I'm logged in now.  Has there been any discussion about how ESPN has mishandled the story repeatedly?

Yakult Swallows all the way.

That girl's got a funny first name but there's something about her that appeals to me...

Not that I've heard, mostly Celtics vs. Hawks basketball chatter.

Good show, guys. I still don't think you will be right but about Teixeira coming here but it is what it is. I agree though that the best time for him to come forward with his decision would be tonight. Nothing else is happening in Sports until tomorrow/Sunday. People are getting sick of this story and want it to end. Christmas is a week away as well.

Nice!

So I forgot my password for Orioles Hangout, it asked me to verify my ID by entering what city the Orioles play in, and I typed in "Baltimore". And it says that's wrong.

wasn't paying attention.   Went to the gym, then to get lunch, did listen to Tom Boswell talking about Tex on Charlie Steiner's XM 175 show.  Boswell still thinks Boston, Angels, Nats, Orioles in order most likely, really thinks Boston walking out is just a negotiating ploy to have Boras chasing after them.

Somebody (Baseball Prospectus, perhaps) had a contest where you pick the team, years and contract amount you think Tex will sign for.  I picked Nats 10 / $200m, and I'm pretty sure I was the only one to pick the Nats.    :halo:

But I did so mostly because it there was a vacuum, best to be a contrarian sometimes.  Now I have to remember where that was if I want to claim my prize (should Tex sign with the Nats).    :)

Thanks Jeff,
I hope your 'Deep Throat' source is correct (on the day that we hear the original Deep Throat, Mark Felt, has passed away)

Remember, they did the big show with Matzuzaka, of telling him the plane was on the runway, either get on or we're leaving.  They had Boras running after them on the tarmac.  All negotiating tactics.  It is widely believed that Boras will suggest other bids are higher to drive them up, when no such other bids exist.  At some point, best to call his bluff.

The Dice K thing was a lot like the Carl Pavano thing...take it or leave it...and like you said Boras came running. If Boras' best offer is the Sox at 8 years at 160 lets say..then he is coming to Boston...frankly...I don't believe that to be true.

Remember though, Dice-K wasn't a free agent, it was take it or pitch in Japan. I'm actually surprised Boras isn't trying to screw the Sox after that to return the favor.

No one else had anywhere near the same level of interest as boston with that deal --- obviously the Nats have put more money on the table at this point than boston which is why this is taking so long -- I don't see the two scenarios as being the same at all ...

From The O's Insider Belkast:

Quote
Nothing is official yet. I was told that we would either have some kind of aggrement today or we would be dropping out. Tex is in the elimination process as I was told we fully expect to know where we stand today.

OH would have the whole weekend to wait for the O's to sweep in with their super offer?

Hondo5's guess for the actual terms is probably pretty accurate. But deals aren't "official" until the player undergoes a physical which I doubt can be lined up that quickly let alone have the results analyzed.

I hope we have, but we don't know that at all.  Boston could well already have the top offer, and Boras is just squeezing them for more.  I like what I'm hearing so far, at least Boston didn't agree overnight like the rumor was yesterday, but we should not get overly crazy just yet.

Did you know that if you insert the letters FE (or iron) in the middle of "sources" you get sour feces?
